Unpopular Opinions: Current Fashion

Every time I go to the Mall, I am kind of disgusted by what's currently in style.

Here are some of my "unpopular opinions"

Maternity Maxi dresses- Albeit, comfortable, they are SO unflattering and show every butt dimple. Other than Rach (a size zero), I've never seen a girl look good in a Maternity maxi dress.

Jeggins/Leggins-I really hate jeggins and leggins are occasionally ok, but they do have an age limit. I hate when I see middle-aged women wearing leggins. Please dress your age. Also, if you're going to wear them, make sure to pair them with a tunic or dress. They are not meant to be worn with a regular-length t-shirt. I don't need to see your underwear outline.

Slutty Halloween Costumes-I just feel like they are AWish and show a lack of creativity. Come up with something better than the pre-made, over-produced slutty Dorothy or Bad Cop.

So, what are some of your unpopular opinions on today's fashions?

**I'll also admit that I was once a victim of some of these different fashion no-no's. I look back at some pictures and just think "what in the heck was I THINKING???!!!

Oh my Lord this- if you think that you are skinny enough to wear a regular shirt you are wrong. We see this all the time. I also think people need to look in the mirror to make sure they arent see thru and they are appropriate for the occasion. Wearing them to work with a barely long enough shirt isnt appropriate. I wear them under dresses... almost to the knee not short outfits.

I do not love the one piece pant/short/top outfits - I think they call them rompers... some of them are just inappropriate. I am sure some people can pull them off but most cant.

  • HATER!! Stick out tongue

Okay for real now... Hey dress companies, can we have a bit more material to cover our boobies? I dont like my tits hanging out. I'm a lady.

Sky high shoes make me dizzy. I'll take my flats and mid sized heels TYVM.

Rompers are disgusting. I am not a toddler.

  • My biggest complaint isn't so much about the bad fashions as it is about who's wearing them. Some people see these trends and buy the clothes, admitting that they look terrible on them, but think it's ok because that's what's in style. Um?! You admit you look like an idiot, you don't actually like the trend, so BUY SOMETHING ELSE. Leggings aren't the only style of pant available now.

I really wish button down shirts could fit something larger than an A cup. It doesn't seem right the rest of my body (shoulders, stomach) needs to be swimming in the shirt just so the buttons don't gape open around my chest. These are women's shirts, not men's. Make them for women.

PJ pants in public. It just looks trashy, I don't care how comfortable it is. Maybe that's what the offenders are going for though, who knows.

I'm also getting really annoyed with recent changes in clothing sizes in some of my favorite designers. I used to be an 8/10, now I just barely squeeze into a 12 (this is not me getting fat- that's a completely separate problem. a 10 from 2 years ago is still big on me, while this year's 12 barely zips up). Add that to them no longer making a size 16, and I'm in danger of not being able to wear this brand anymore.

    Feathers. Really?

  • Don't be hatin' on jeggings.... paired with the right tunic top and a cute little pair of flats, I see nothing wrong with showing off a little curves.

Uggs with booty shorts.... wtf, it hasn't snowed in months, and why the f*ck are you wearing shorts with winter boots?!

Rompers -- how many times do I have to say it?  They do NOT belong on grown women!

And finally, ruffles.  Still can't stand them.  *shudder*

  • I'm gonna go with rompers as well. Kev picked one up the other day and was so confused. After a few mins he looked at me and goes "wtf is this?"
Baby, you've got the sort of eyes that tell me tales...

  • I have to disagree on the rompers! I think they are cute...although maybe not for everyone. And some of them are ugly...you have to find the right one! I actually bought one before I was pregnant and now of course I can't wear it:(

I agree with the Uggs and shorts. I do not see how that makes sense. Same with scarves and tank tops.

I own a bathingsuit maternity cover up and it's a romper. I love it!

I'm another romper-hater, but as a bathing suit coverup I'm ok with it.

  • I love jeggings, rompers, and ruffles! There need to be guideline about who/how they are worn, but I like.

I do not like Uggs period. Or Crocs. Or Toms or Spurries or any of the other ugly trendy shoes.

I will ditto you on the Crocs for sure.  I refuse to buy my daughter Crocs.  Ever.

    Yes

I don't have problems with any style really, it's just people who follow the style regardless of how flattering it is on them.

Ditto on the button down shirts, I love wearing them but it's so hard to find one that fits well.

I think rompers can be cute, but I don't feel comfortable being almost naked in a public bathroom if I had to use one.  You have to take off the whole thing in order to use a bathroom right?

Lol. I think it is! I'm guilty of this one. I bought this maxi dress from VS that is blue tie dye. I love it! I also bought a blue and white tie dye maternity shirt. I promise they're both cute IRL, but I'm sure tie dye can easily be done wrong!

  • I PPH MAXI DRESSES!

    That is all.

    Me too! Yes

Although, I agree you have to be wary of butt dimples.
