I responded to your post about your guy friend with the I-O degree in the other thread, but I was wondering if you know what he does for a living? I-O degrees have such a range that I always find it really interesting to see what other people with the same degree are doing. Does he live in Jax or is he working elsewhere? There are a lot more opportunities in areas like DC.

  • Hey! Sorry, I went to lunch and missed all of your questions. Yeah, he just got his Masters. He works for Convergys in Orlando as a Senior recruiting manager. I believe he's always worked for recruiting companies. He was with Kelly services before Convergys. I think he must have been doing something on the consulting side for awhile too because I remember talking to him in the past when he was really stressed out because he had to advise this company at a bunch of different branches to lay people off, how many people, how to go about doing it etc.

  • No worries. I looked into recruiting during my job search. It's one of the areas where there seem to be more jobs available. Consulting can be really interesting because you get a lot of variety but then you can also end up getting some unpleasant assignments. I'm sure that was really stressful for him. I wouldn't have enjoyed that either. My thesis advisor is from Orlando and I know he worked in the recruiting area there as well before he finished his PhD and went the academic route.
