Anyone using space bags? Do they work?

They seem to get mixed reviews on amazon.com and BBB. Anyone use them?

They are great for bulky items like pillows, comforters, down coats and bulky sweaters. They are not good for tshirts, flat knits and linens. With tshirts and flat knits, there isn't any air to remove so you don't get the shrinkage.

Yes! LOVE them. Just make sure the seal is closed good.

Yes I have used them for a couple of years and they work great!!! We just moved into a new apartment with a small amount of storage area and so I went out and bought a few more!

mine ripped at the seam the first time I tried to seal them. I didn't fill them up too much either

This. I bought them many times, so I know I wasn't just getting a bad batch. It didn't matter how well I sealed them, they always leaked. Horrible IMO. I'd rather dump the money down the drain, at least then I wouldn't have them cluttering my house.

I have some and they work great initially. They were wonderful for packing comforters, etc., especially when we were moving. They all leaked though.

We just bought a few for moving, and they've worked great. We don't plan to use them long-term, so they are perfect for what we need.

Agreed. Not good for long term, all mine leaked.

I do, however, have some smaller ones I use for packing which you do not need a vacuum for, just roll out the air, and I find that they do allow me to get more stuff in a carry-on size suitcase. They are not the "Space Saver" brand though, just something I picked up at Walmart.

That happened to me, too. After the first one, I tried zipping the second one empty. The zipper ripped the plastic.

Agreed. I'm pretty rough on mine and they have held up great. They aren't helpful for non-fluffy things but are fabulous for those extra fluffy things like out of season comforters and coats.
