I am so excited for this afternoon and had to share! My youngest cousin is graduating high school!
She lives in the DC area, so I've lived nearby for half her life. I've watched her grow from a 9-year-old kid troubled by her ADHD to a smart, caring, good-head-on-her-shoulders young woman. Her parents often involved me in raising her (one of my biggest joys and privileges). I've stayed home with her when she was sick, helped her learn how to budget, how to drive, how to deal with friends, how to have a better relationship with her parents, been her sounding board on how to tell her parents when she's done something that would disappoint them, been around for proms, birthdays, big celebrations and milestones...I can't believe she's a young adult already. It's going to be a good afternoon. :-)
Re: graduation day!
This must be a fantastic feeling for you! I know you've had some "war stories" and you should be proud of having helped your cousin through some tough growing pains!
The aim of life is to live, and to live means to be aware; joyously, drunkenly, serenely, divinely aware. -Henry Miller
