What do you ladies do for your Dad for Father's Day?
My Dad has everything he wants and buys everything he needs/wants. Because my birthday is the day before Father's Day this year I can't even cook him a steak or take him out to eat...because my Mom is doing that on Saturday for both of us.
I'm at a loss.
Re: Fathers Day ideas?
We just take mine out to eat--usually III Forks because that is his favorite. This year I am giving him a picture frame with a pic of me and my sister at the Grand Canyon. Nothing too exciting.
My problem is my boss--talk about having everything you want. His birthday is in June and I get him the exact same thing every year: a massage at Massage Envy and one of those candy apples from Neiman's. I used to get him designer ties (because they were always on sale around Father's Day) but he finally told me to stop because he had enough.
My other boss' birthday is also this month and he is building an outdoor BBQ kitchen at his house so I got him BBQ stuff.

Just do it!
I had Cadence's pictures taken, and I am getting them printed and framed for the grandfathers... (my dad and Andrew's dad).
For Andrew, I bought him tickets to the midnight showing of Transformers, and a gift card for food/drinks. He has been so excited about seeing it!

I suck at ideas in this area. We normally take our dad out to eat, but both him and my mom are going to be out of town this weekend, so we're going to have to delay that.
We normally give him gift cards. It sucks, but it what he asks for, so that's what we give.
Bio Good Times
I'm not doing anything this year, just calling, but my go to gift for my dad is usually food related.
He likes spicy things so I have chocolate with a jalapeno kick or The Pepper Lady on my list of ideas. For his last birthday I got him brownies from Vermont Brownie Company after seeing them on Thrown Down with Bobby Flay because they have a goat cheese brownie (he raises goats).
We don't do anything...I feel like Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, Father's Day, etc. are just made up holidays to make everyone think they need to spend more money on random gifts....I'm sure most peoples spouse, mom, and dad would rather get a phone call or card saying you love them
Maybe I'm just a debbie downer
haha
Being a mother... yes... every day is a gift for me. However, I think that it's great to have a special day to specifically recognize your parent (with whatever you can do). I think that parents absolutely deserve a day to be recognized. We took my MIL to have family pictures done for her gift. And yes, we did spend a lot of money on it, but it was something that was special to her.
I bet your parents would really love for you to do something for them. Even if it is just a card. A little bit goes a long way.

I may just be biased because my mother, my husband and his parents all feel the same way about this. None of us want to celebrate these man made holidays and each of us have verbalized that with one another
But I totally get why some people could feel the opposite way...my point is tell your parents you love them all the time and randomly doing something special for them
The other day I bought my mom a really cute (and expensive) bathing suit from Anthropologie that I knew she really liked but she could not afford...no reason, no special "buy my mom something" day...just because
Well crud. You guys gave me a great idea that quickly descended into a bad one.
My Dad loves See's Candy... usually they are only here at the holidays though. Has anyone seen them still in their mall? I can order from the website but shipping alone is $18! Yowza.
Shipping is often ridiculous. I am no help on where you can find them in the metroplex. What about a gift card to them instead?
I don't like gift cards unless it forces them to do something they would not ordinarily do, plus he couldn't use it either because they are only on the West coast. :-/
Could he not use the GC on their website?
I got my dad a Stetson cowboy hat. I'm really, really excited to hear his reaction. It was delivered yesterday to their house. (They live far away from me).
He always wanted a cowboy hat. Apparently he bought one in his 20's, but lent it to a "friend" and the friend never returned it. He never bothered to get another one but now that his daughter lives in TX ... I couldn't resist.
This year I'm framing a picture of he and I from the wedding last year, alongside a picture of he and I from when I was a baby.
We have a picture of us walking on the beach holding hands, from behind, from when I was about 2. My dad wanted that picture "re-created" on my wedding day so we did, with us walking down the street instead. So I'm framing that picture, and the old one of us as well.
Well yes, but he would have to pay the same $18 shipping as I would. (That is the regular rate... not even expedited)
I would just buy it for him if I wanted to do that.
Awe - that's such a good idea. I bet he just loves it.
My sister, mom and I split the cost of a new grill for my dad. We had it delivered this week and he is pumped about it!
I am also hosting my family on Saturday night for a BBQ dinner and dessert. I am going to give my BIL a Home Depot GC.
Thanks Lacey!
That's so sweet!
I have never made a true key lime pie but here a couple of recipes from a blog that I've never had a bad experience with:

Those seem really simple! Thanks!
