If you are still looking for documentaries/interesting movies to watch on netflix streaming I have a few to recommend. These are ones we watched in my film class that I actually enjoyed.
If you are down with subtitles for the foreign films then these are definitely worth checking out:
The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari (German w/English subtitles) - the older one, not the remake.
M (also German with English subtitles)
The Bicycle Theif (Italian with English subtitles)
Black Girl (mostly French but some English and with subtitles as well)
Breathless (French w/ English subtitles)
Documentaries:
South of the Border
The Business of Being Born
Re: *Liz*
Thank ya! And I've seen the Business of Being Born. That will really make you think. I've got it saved on our queue and have already told H it's mandatory viewing in the near future. He's trying to psyche himself up for it, though.
I told Steve that when we are getting ready to TTC he will need to watch it too. Although I already warned him that he'll see way more of Ricki Lake than he ever wanted to. lol
It really does make you think. After watching it I looked at our insurance and there is only one midwife within 20 miles of us that our insurance would allow us to use and no birthing centers. Crazy.
ETA: The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari is much better when you watch it with a good buzz going. It's a German Expressionist movie with lots of sharp, almost jarring contrasts. I watched it with a bottle of wine and it made the whole thing awesome.
