Old Books

I think this qualifies as cleaning....

I just ordered a really old book off eBay, published in the 1930s.  I have yet to receive it, but I am preparing for it to smell as old books often do.  I have researched some methods online for removing odor from books, but I was wondering if you ladies have ever had to do this and if so, what you had success with.

Re: Old Books

  • I am probably in the VAST minority, but I love the way old books smell.  To me, it's part of their appeal :)

Sorry I'm no help, but hopefully someone else has something to share. GL :)

  • I agree...I like the smell!  I wonder if it would help if you put it in a sealed container with a dryer sheet for a while (probably wouldn't let the sheet touch the book in case it harmed the paper/cover).  Never tried it, just a thought.
