Peonies - Trying to find where I can put one in.
I love peonies. My SO is not a fan, but I'm to the point, I just don't care. I have no flowering plants in my yard. So, I am going to plant peonies. I just cannot figure out where I can put it in my yard.
Anybody have any pics of peony placement for an urban yard landscape?
Here are some pics of my front yard.

Re: Peonies - Trying to find where I can put one in.
Looking at those pictures I'd put one or two peonies behind the tree in the first picture. They are fairly tall so putting some shorter plants in front looks good. You made need to add a small cage to hold them from getting blown over from the wind or flopping over when the big flowers bloom. Otherwise you can get some rock garden peonies or fern leaf peonies that have finer leaves, are shorter (less likely to flop), and bloom earlier. Or you could do a mix of both to have a long period of blooms.
Herbaceous, Itoh or tree? Keep in mind they like a fair bit of sun to bloom well.
I have a neighbor with a nice clump of herbaceous ones at the edge of a wall, like the bottom corner in the first pic. It looks really good when they're in bloom, but they're also established enough to be self-supporting.
Maybe next to the landing area and top step (just above and to the right of the wall) if you want to plant something else that will spill over the wall.

Sometimes I wonder if scientists have never seen a sci-fi movie before. "Oh yes, let's create a super species of deer. NOTHING COULD POSSIBLY GO WRONG." I wonder if State Farm offers a Zombie Deer Attack policy. -CaliopeSpidrman
