Wine Tours

I want to go to a winery for my Bday next month.  Can anyone rec a good one? Also, has anyone heard of or done thelittlewinebus.com ?  I really like the idea of this, but not sure if my friends will be able to spend $135 bucks.

Re: Wine Tours

  • My friend just did the little wine bus for her bachelorette and said they had a great time and that it was worth the money.

  • We had a GTG last year at Warwick Valley Winery. Between wine tasting, food, and a glass or 2 of wine I think I only spent $20!!! Can't beat that. The ended up having music the day we were there, it got noisy quick. But I think in the nicer weather you can sit outside.

  • I did one a couple of years ago.  It was a bunch of teachers at the end of school.  We took a train to Grand Central and a limo picked us all up.  We drove out to Long Island and went to 5 wineries and had tastings at all.  Our price even included lunch at one of them.  We also decided that each person would bring some kind of snack--whether it be cheese and crackers, fruit, water, chips, etc.  that way we had other stuff to eat as well.  I believe it was $105 pp.  I will try to find out what company we used.

  • I just did a wine tour this weekend for my friend's bachelorette party.  We did 5 wineries on the Shawangunk Trail.  We stayed mostly in the Washingtonville area.  My favorite was Brotherhood (so excited to go back there tomorrow to buy some wine!).  We only went to Adair in New Paltz but the other ones in New Paltz are awesome.  The wineries ranged from $5-$7 for tastings.  I thought Stoutridge was interesting as it is the only organic winery and I have an allergy to sulfites (I only break into rashes so I still drink wine).  The execution wasn't planned well though.  We rented a van for 9 of us and it was $83/pp (we took on the cost of the bride so there were really 10 in the van).  I would rather do a limo for that price!

  • This is who we used.  It was 4 years ago, so I'm sure prices have changed, but its worth a shot!! We had such a FANTASTIC time!!

  • I've never taken a tour, but I've been out to the wineries in the Riverhead area a bunch of times. As I understand it they are less crowded and less Hampton-y than a lot of the Long Island wineries. The big names over ther are Martha Clara, Pindar, Raphael- but there is about a dozen right near each other. Depending on how many people you get it might be cheaper to do a limo vs a tour?
