Went to Frankford Hall

And thought it was amazing.  It's a perfect place for a gtg!

The atmosphere is really, really cool.  For a Wednesday night, it was bumping. I'd say there was probably at least 100 people there or more. It helped that it was an amazing night last night at the weather was perfect.  I went all sweaty and gross in my softball clothes (sweatband on the head, dirt on my pants, dress shoes on the feet - totally hot) and felt totally at ease.  The bartenders were super knowledgable and offered samples of different beers till we found something we liked. I had 2 beers, neither that I was absolutely crazy about but I'm not really a German beer-type of girl.  I like American crafts better, IPA's, Imperials, Saisons, etc. So I had a Dogfish Head Festina Peche summer wheat/fruit/sour similar to a lambic and then I had a Stoudts Karnival Kolsch, which was just ok.

Food - I was starvin marvin after playing 2 games, so DH and I ordered one of the bavarian pretzels with cheese (SO GOOD!), each some kind of bratwurst or knockwurst with kraut, french fries with curry ketchup, and a side of the german potato salad.  Everything was good, not superb, but it's not really a fine-dining kind of experience.  You order at a counter and they bring it to your table.  It was the perfect kind of eats for last night since I was literally ready to gnaw on my arm.

All in all, I was pretty impressed with the atmosphere and it's perfect for a group that wants to hang out.  There were 6 of us and we all sat comfortably at one of the big tables with plenty of room for more.

I went over Memorial Day weekend for a beer after we hit up the hotdog truck at Memphis. I am surprised (and slightly disappointed) that Frankford Hall does not carry more American craft beers that are German-styled brews--weisses, kolschs, dunkels.

Yeah, my DH was not happy with the selection. I think he would have much rather been at Kraftwork or MTR.

  • I  LOVE the Festina Peche.

I am going to buy a case of it this weekend!
