Dog update

After staying tough for weeks since we found out she had cancer, Chasey has stopped eating normally, which we think is her way of telling us that she's done. So tomorrow, we'll be putting her to sleep. I'm currently holding up okay, although I'm sure I'll be a mess tomorrow. DH is already a mess, and I have no idea what to say to him. But we know this is the right decision.

I'm very sorry about this. It's such a hard decision to make, but you and your husband are good people for recognizing that this will be a relief for Chasey. I'm sure you two gave her a wonderful life.

jess...i am very, very sorry to hear that. hang in there. i have been in your shoes and although it is devastating, what you hare doing is the kindest, humane thing that you can do for her. please go home and give her lots of hugs and kisses and take it easy. my thoughts and prayers are with you guys

So, so sorry to hear. Breaks my heart just thinking about it. We just had to put my cat down in May and I had him for 16 years. It's so hard to make that decision but it's the best thing for him and while you'll bawl your eyes out for a few days, just try and remember that he had a really good life and remind your DH of this.

So sad and sorry to hear this. I will say a prayer for you both. Know that you are doing the right thing for Chasey, as hard as that might be to understand right now. I went through this with DH a few years back and the best thing to do is just hold each other, remember the good times with her and reassure him that you made the best, most humane decision.

I'm so sorry that you have to go through with this. I had to put my rabbit to sleep not too long ago and it was awful, but you just have to listen to what the vet recommends and know that you are doing the most humane thing for your dog no matter how much it sucks. Stay strong and just give DH lots of hugs if you can't think of anything to say!

I don't know what to say other than it really really sucks. Tomorrow will be one of the hardest things you'll ever have to do; I'm really sorry.

When we had to put our dog down someone told me about the Rainbow Bridge (it is religious, but not overly religious): http://www.petloss.com/rainbowbridge.htm I don't know what it was about it, but it made me feel a little better, probably because I knew he wasn't going to be alone. It will probably make you cry, it still makes me and our dog has been gone for about 5 years. (hugs)

Aw, I'm so sorry Jess. Hang in there. Maybe surprise DH with something special tomorrow, like something he loves to help cheer him up. Losing a pet is so difficult.

I'm so sorry. I love the rainbow bridge poem and it makes me cry everytime I read it. You're definitely doing the right thing for your poor baby. I hope you can hold on to the good memories and know you gave him a happy life.

Thanks, ladies, I really really appreciate it. Of course we have my best friend's wedding up in Massachusetts this weekend, so we're going to have to pull ourselves together...there's no such thing as good timing for something like this.

I am so sorry. I was just thinking about this last night and wondering how things were going. One of our friends lost their dog several years ago and I gave them a windchime to remind them of their dear family member.
