  I use a LL Bean tote, so I understand your problem with the bottomless pit!  I use a bunch of different zippered makeup bags inside to keep things organized.  I have a ton of cute bags leftover from Clinique bonuses, etc.  I'll use one for sunscreen, one for sippy cups and snacks, one for pacifier, diaper cream, etc.  I hope that helps!  Clear gallon size Ziploc bags work well too, for organizing inside the tote.

  I have a Whale Bag from Saltwater Canvas http://www.saltwatercanvas.com/beachbags.htm that I really like, plus I get a lot of compliments on it.  I have the Salsa/Chartreuse color.  

  I've been wanting a Dolphin bag from the same place, but I don't like the color options.  The Whale Bag is BIG!  I also have a shower bag that I use for the gym

  I carry towels in a big blue IKEA shopping bag. Then everything else can go in a smaller bag and not be too hidden.
