What to bring on the honeymoon..

..for the bedroom! I figured this would be the right place to post this! I have some lingerie and we have a few toys that I got at my bachelorette party. Is there anything any of you have used that has been a hit? Sorry if this is TMI...

Re: What to bring on the honeymoon..

  • On our honeymoon I brought some lingerie but honestly very little of it got used.  We had slept together (and lived together) before the wedding, but there was something different about honeymoon sex.  It was just perfect the way it was & spontaneous.  We didn't take any toys with us.  I would save those up for when you get home & everyday life starts to set in and you are wanting to spice things up a bit.

Other then that....some lube.  I usually never need any but when you are doing it a few times a day you may find you want some.

  • Thanks for the tip! I imagine things might get irritated if you didn't use any...

  • I took some lingerie, lube, and a nice silk robe. I also took some bubbles for the jacuzzi tub that was in our room. And my parents gave us a bottle of Martini & Rossi Asti sparking wine (I'm not much of a wine person) that was amazing!  Hope that helps!!

  • I brought tons of lingerie on our honeymoon, but I didn't even wear 1/2 of it! haha I'd say a robe is a great thing to take along though and yes lube is a good idea too. I remember my mom saying (and embarrassing me with bad visuals) that the honeymoon is great but to remember that even if I don't use some "props" on that week away, we still have our whole life together to try them out. Good advice, not good coming from my mom. lol oh well

Agreed.  And don't forget birth control if you need/want it!

  • I would bring antibiotics and some diflucan. But maybe I am just a pessimistic person prone to infections. But really, you may want to talk to a doctor and see if they would give you some antibiotics to prevent UTIs if you are  at all prone to them. A UTI could really ruin that special trip!
  • I am not prone to infections, but AZO has a product for symptomatic control. I have used it before and it has worked until you can get a prescription. I don't like over-using antibiotics because it creates resistance. Drives me crazy!! Probably  because I am almost a pharmacist...

giving antibiotics to people who don't need them is the reason there are so many superbugs out there resistant to antibiotics. as a nurse, I have to fight those damn things every day. there are UTI-causing bacteria that are resistant to bactrim AND macrobid, the most commonly prescribed antibiotics for UTIs.

OP, just practice good hygiene. don't have sex in ocean water or pool water (you don't know what's in there), make sure you're peeing after sex, wipe front to back. load up on the cranberry juice.

  • I wore all my lingerie on my honeymoon!! I had a "naughty" bridal shower and got lots of stuff, and I've never worn anything like that before for him, so that's whta he got. It was the first time (and only time) we role played, and it was fun.

We had already lived together for a year, but something about being on our honeymoon made sex different and more exciting....

The one thing I regret bringing was some whipped cream stuff from Victoria's Secret. That stuff tasted AWFUL! haha

    Good luck, have fun! Cool

  • Yes, by all means bring a few toys. I don't understand why PPers suggest those are only when the routine starts... Toys can be so much fun, especially for orgasmic women. Why not use a vibrator to bring your to orgasm while you are engaged in intercourse?? If this is outside of the norm, or you are considering toys that are outside of what you usually use, the honeymoon is a great time to just go a little wild in the bedroom, try new things... If it wasn't that much fun, you'll do it again in the very near future... Its not like you are risking spoiling "birthday sex" or stressed about work. And if you are having bedroom fun more than once a day, the variety that comes with a collection of toys could be greatly appreciated. If you are off to a beach vacation, imagine your DH's response when you whisper in his ear in the middle of the afternoon that there's a specific toy you would like to try as soon as he puts down his novel...
  • Oh - and bring more than one memory cards for your phone or video camera... Just in case you take some pictures that you don't want to show your friends as soon as you come home.
