Since I have been b!tching in randoms about my appts, I thought I'd give you all an update.
On Tuesday, H went with to my appt (ultrasound, non stress test and meet withOB) with the hopes of getting more answers. Still we left feeling like we didn't quite understand why I am high risk. Dr was great at answering questions with out answering questions.
Yesterday I had another NST and a biophysical profile and a consult with a perinatologist. And he was a bit more forth coming with answers. Still I wish H could have been there to help absorb all the information (2 set of ears are always better then one).
So here is what I took away from it all. Originally, I was deemed high risk due to too much amniotic fluid and baby kidney's were measuring large. Both of these thing are soft markers for a chromosomal disease.
During the biophysical profile, yesterday the Dr notices that something is off with the umbilical cord. Something about the flow being too high. It could be due to something wrong, or it could have been a fluke (baby could have been squishing it). However, if it is not a fluke, they will induce b/c it could have fatal outcome.
So. . . I am to take it easy. I am to constantly be monitoring his movement, continue 2 times a week non stress tests and next Thursday I go back to the perinatologist for another biophysical profile.
Of course in the middle of the night I woke up freaking out that he isn't moving as much.
We have decided not to tell family about this. So, please nothing on FB or anything. My mother is very sick, and we fear the extra stress would be too much for her and my dad.
Thanks for listening.

Oh and for the fun things. I figure you deserve the cute/fun things I learned yesterday too!
Baby is about 6 Lbs 3 Oz, and he is going to be a sucker. He was constantly cramming his fist, his foot or his arm into his mouth.
It was really cute to see. And he has some massive cheeks! Tech and I agreed he has already built up some major sucking muscles there.
He sounds so adorable!! I love big-cheeked babies.
I, too, am very glad to hear that you're getting some answers. I'm sure that's better than the unknown. Sounds like the doctors are keeping a close eye on you and Miro Jr., though, which is good. I'm sending positive vibes eastward that the rest of your pregnancy goes smoothly and Miro is born without any further complications.
I'm hoping that soft markers aren't going to mean a thing when he's born. And that a possible fluke remains a fluke.
I'm glad you guys got some answers, and I hope that you keep reminding yourselves that OBs are (because of lawsuits) some of the most overcautious doctors.
In the meantime, enjoy the last few weeks of your big cheeked baby's movement (on the inside).
I'm so excited for you!
Glad you got some answers. If you feel like you weren't able to catch all the information and process it, I wouldn't hesitat to call back for more details. Put the doc on speaker phone so he can hear too.
I will be thinking about you these next few weeks. You are so close.
I wish you still lived in GR, I would so come over to help you. For sure after you have the baby and are ready for visitors, I will come for a visit. We might be in that area on July 3, so if you have the baby by then, I will have to drop off some food for you.
Thanks everyone. I am the type who functions much better knowing why. Now I am able to look forward more to each appointment instead of dreading them.
I wished I still lived in GR too.
But that makes me very excited that you would visit me... um us.
:-)
