Poll: Which side of the road?
When you are walking on a street with no sidewalks, which side of the road is the correct one to walk on?
[Poll]
I'm curious because I see people walking on the wrong side everyday while we're out walking the dog. I always thought this was common knowledge. Based on what I see everyday, it is not.
Re: Poll: Which side of the road?
Thank you! I was starting to feel like I was in the wrong by walking against traffic. It's mind-boggling how often I see people walking with traffic. I have to bite my tongue not to tell them the error of their ways on some days. I haven't actually said anything since I don't want to be "that lady" in the neighborhood.
When I'm just walking around my neighborhood, I usually walk on the right hand side. I didn't realize this was 'idiotic.' Oops!
Sorry. Didn't mean to make anyone feel like an idiot. Please walk on the left side of the road though.
Truly just curious if this was common knowledge or not. It only actually bothers mean when a car comes by and I meet another pedestrian (on the wrong side of the road) at the same time. Our streets are narrow with a few blind curves and I get really nervous about getting hit.
In my neighborhood, there are some sidewalks and they are on the right side of the road but in some places the sidewalk just runs out. I don?t switch the side of the road I am on, I just move on to the street. I guess that was bad city planning. However, when I am walking and end up on a main road where there are no sidewalks, I am aware that I should face traffic.
