How to get rid of a mouse?
I don't normally post on this board but I was hoping you ladies could help me. Does anyone have any advice to get rid of a mouse? We saw a mouse run into our apt this morning and it is currently in my bedroom closet. *groan* We bought mothballs and put them in the kitchen and closets as a deterrent. We also got spin traps and baited them with peanut butter. Any other advice? Thanks!
Re: How to get rid of a mouse?
Please don't flame!
I have a RAMPANT mouse problem in the city apartment I share with 4 other people (two of which are horrible slobs). We've tried everything, and the only thing that's really worked were glue traps. I feel bad about the mice dying this way, but its truly the only thing that worked for us.
I also have one of those devices that beeps to scare away rodents, and I thought it worked for a while, but I think it was just a period of time where we didn't see mice.

I love these. Just as easy and cheap as a mouse trap, but saves the mouse!
can you have a cat where you are?
Thanks, I know, I feel so bad but have to get rid of this before it becomes a bigger problem. I live in a large city too. No flaming here. We couldn't find the glue traps so we set 6 spin traps in our small apartment. Maybe home depot.
I've been asking around to borrow someone's pet cat. I am not in a position to adopt a cat permanently at this time.
Please don't use the glue traps. They are cruel. I grew up in a really old farmhouse where there was always mouse problems. Good old fashioned snap traps always did the trick.
This. We had a mouse in our garage two summers ago, and I made my husband get the snap trap. We put peanut butter on it, and got it the same day. I felt awful, but felt better knowing it wasn't a sticky trap.
I've tried snap traps in my old apartment and they never worked. The only thing that really worked for me was poison. Yes, that's cruel too, but I just don't want rodents in my house. (Also, I couldn't have a cat due to allergies and all my neighbors had cats, so all the mice came to my place.) I've never tried glue traps, but I've heard they work really well as well.

<a href="http://www.thenest.com/?utm_source=ticker&utm_medium=HTML&utm_campaign=tickers" title="Home DKeep asking to borrow someone's cat for a day. Even if the cat doesn't catch the mouse, the scent will still scare the mouse of your apartment and keep it out. I had one that kept coming out of the vents in an apartment I lived in so I brought my sister's cat over. The cat hid under the bed the whole time until I took him home, but I never saw the mouse again.
I had rats in my office and tried glue traps. That little sucker chewed off his leg. Next morning 1 leg and no rat. Gross, I know.
Traps work for me.
We also had a rabbit garden, so rabbit food was left out. It was so disgusting to see 50+ rats eating the rabbit food at the same time. Maybe rabbit food in a trap?
Good Luck !
Ughh...we are about to move in an old house and I'm hoping we don't have any critters. The thought of my sweet cat eating a mouse makes me gag. Surely it can't be a tidy process.
Glad you caught yours.
