Because when I go to the dog park at 1pm to spread wood chips out all by my lonesome, within 30 minutes, I've been joined by 3 adults (one happens to be a neighbour) and 2 children. One guy helped by keeping our dogs all occupied and making sure they were all getting along and picking up their poop. We got so much more done than I would have been able to accomplish on my own. Only one couple stood by and just watched us.
Maine people are so awesome!
This probably wouldn't have happened in Connecticut-- or rather, it would have been only one person offering to help and the rest just watching (and most likely trying to tell us how spread the chips correctly)...

Re: This is why I moved to Maine:
I love that! We have a special breed of folk here.
When I was waiting for DH a few months ago at the Portland airport, I was waiting outside my car with the dog... Some guy came up and handed me a massive bag of dog treats... just because he's a sweet Mainer. I loved it.
That's awesome. I love Maine.
