Something is wrong w/ the feed, but I heard him say he doesn't even know George Anthony and he doesn't know why they got him involved in this mess.

He said the phone number that they are claiming George contacted him on (or he contacted George) was not his phone number until Feb 09. So it was no where in the time frame of Caylee's death.
I think he also said something about a civil suit. Ahh, this whole Casey Anthony trial is a circus!!

Question - why is the defense spending so much time and energy about the car? I mean, I think it's pretty obvious that the body WAS in the car. IDK, there were like 50 bijillion people to claim it smelled like death.
Please Jose Baez, move on to something else. You have MUCH to prove. Like what happened on June 16? How did Caylee get into the woods? How did Roy Kronk get the body? Where's the proof of sexual molestation?
Who give a crap about flies in the car. I am not buying that Caylee wasn't placed in the trunk.

I'm the odd man out again in that I like this witness.
But again, I love the forensic stuff. Forensic entomology is not my favorite, but I like this guy.

He seems to be a good/knowledgable witness, but bugs aren't my cup of tea. I do like the forensic stuff, but hours of testimony about bugs doesn't do it for me

Hahaha. I just saw that fight on TV. It made me LOL. What a bunch of nuts.
On HLN they said that 5 spectators were ejected from the court room for sleeping during testimony. Maybe they should have brought their sleeping bag and slept in line!

OMG, I don't want hear about bugs anymore. I know I have said it a million times but I don't understand the defense's defense. They have a TON of explaining to do and I don't think the car is their biggest worry right now. Just admit the body was in the car, jez.
If I were her lawyer (and I am totally qualified because I watch Nancy Grace) I would have taken up the defense of a) Caylee drowned in the pool b) Casey panicked hid the body and tried to cover it up as a kidnapping c) Casey is mentally unstable.
At least then there is reasonable doubt that the child wasn't murdered. They could still play off the accident theory. But they needed to keep it simple. They had one to many "AND THENs" in their opening statement.
"AND THEN Roy Kronk stored and hid the body", "AND THEN George Anthony molested his daughter" "AND THEN Lee Anthony tired to molest Casey", "AND THEN her dad helped cover up the accident", "AND THEN George tried to frame Casey with duct tape", "AND THEN her dad had an affair", "AND THEN George Anthony had a fake job too". Ugh, too much.
***sidenote*** I know the defense just can't make up stories. They have to follow what the defendant said happened. Theoretically. THEORETICALLY. I have a feeling Jose Baez came up with this defense by connecting the missing dots. Their defense is one elaborate story. Again, they should have kept it simple.

I agree that things got pretty convoluted in the opening statements and they definitely could have simplified it. I also agree with your theory of the case and the direction Baez should have gone - I think he could have argued it was a terrible parenting job, leading to a horrible accident, followed by a crappy cover-up by a mentally unstable person. It seems more like he's trying to get her totally acquitted of everything though, rather than just trying to get her out of 1st degree murder and the DP. That's pretty ambitious.
However, I think this witness is doing a good job (so far, at least) at poking holes in the prosecution's bug talk, and even talk of decomposition evidence in the trunk generally. And again, the defense doesn't have to PROVE anything - they just have to get the jury thinking it reasonably could have happened differently than what the prosecution says.
Let's see the cross-examination!

Typically I think defendants are the last to take the stand. But I am no expert. I just watch Nancy Grace. Ha. But I really don't think she will take the stand. Although I would love to see Jeff Ashton cross examine her. Oh boy, that would a blood bath!
