House F/U

Definitely disappointed in the house we looked at this morning. Although the price tag was great, it was obvious why. It is a manufactured house, and it has to have been one of the cheapest models available. It's not even drywall. It's some composite board stuff that is pieced together. It needs all new carpet. The "partially finished" basement is hardly what I'd consider finished. It's like slabs of carpet stuck together. It did have a nice layout, but I think we'd spend a little more to get a higher quality house.

We're looking at another house this afternoon. Fingers crossed on this one!

Re: House F/U

  • That stinks!!! I hope this one is better...keep us posted!
  • Good luck!  You'll know when you find the right house - just like we knew when we found the right dress!

RIP Dr. Irving Fishman - 10/1/19-7/25/10 - thank you for holding on for me.
You made my wedding day complete.

  • The second house we looked at today was the best house at that price range that we've seen, but it still needs work. I can't justify buying a house that needs work when there is another one I love that already has all the work finished. Hmmm! Hubby is getting cold feet, though. Now he's starting to say we should wait.
  • Is the house you love in your price range??? I know it's a huge commitment, but you will totally know and you are being smart about not jumping into something!
  • Good luck...

We looked at one house that has an AWESOME location (like half a block from the express train to downtown) and was really cute (slightly run down, but cute) from the outside.  The inside... OMG.   Words can not describe the horror of this house.   It is basically a tear down. with a $300k price tag!!  And a tag sale going on inside the house :)

It's a little more than we WANTED to spend, but not more than we CAN spend. If that makes sense. But it's essentially move-in ready other than needing new carpet in 2 bedrooms (they were kid bedrooms).

  • sorry to hear about the house, but keep looking I'm sure you will find something that's perfect!
