S/O Gifts

How do you and DH handle gift giving? Do you surprise each other, go shopping together, know what you are getting or something else?

Re: S/O Gifts

  • We always surprise each other. We each have separate accounts that we put just little bit from each check into and we use those accounts for gifts for each other.

  • We surprise each other, but if we go to the trouble to offer a suggestion, it's pretty much understood that the other person will get it.
  • I say "what do you want for your birthday/Christmas" and he says "I want blah, blah, blah". At Christmas we usually know the "big gift" for each other and surprise with smaller gifts.

  • If either of us asks for something specifically, we will likely get it for one another (as long as it's not too expensive or outrageous or impractical).  Otherwise, we'll get each other something that we think the other one needs.  For example, for Mother's Day, DH thought I needed a stepladder and a watering can.  Uh huh.

  • He usually asks me what I want... I generally try to surprise him, but it doesn't always work because I don't have ideas. lol
