Raspberry plants...newbie here

Hi there! This my second garden ever and I didn't know this last year but the raspberries come back! Well come back they did! Anyway, they are growing like crazy but their are no buds. Is this normal? It just seems like this time last year I had tons of raspberries but maybe I'm not remembering correctly-I was 9 months pregnant!! Thanks for the advise, sorry I'm on my phone. Oh and I'm in CO if it matters

Re: Raspberry plants...newbie here

  • My black raspberries aren't even close to forming fruit yet.  It's normally mid-July when they are ripe around here.  The weather has been pretty strange this year too so it might take a little longer.  If they are growing like crazy you should have a good crop just wait it out.

Oh and if you haven't noticed they do spread like crazy too so try to contain them somehow if you don't want your whole garden to be raspberries.

  • Most berries have a three year cycle, one good year then two bad.   I have multiple plants in multiple location to combat this scenario.  My berries are running late this year due to the odd weather we have been having so yours could be the same.
