DC Center in Ankeny

Hi ladies, we're relocating to Des Moines/Ankeny area in the next 2-3 months and are looking for a recommendation for a daycare center for our 11 months daughter. I searched on the Internet and am a little overwhelmed by the choices out there! We're looking for a center in Ankeny, preferably with smaller classrooms if possible, and low turnover of the staff among other things. Let me know if you can recommend any, tia!!

Re: DC Center in Ankeny

  • We recently looked at centers in Ankeny - we were in a unique situation as we needed care for a 2 year old and a 1 year old, so our options were limited. We ended up going with a center in Urbandale as it's closer to my work - but if we would've stayed in Ankeny we liked Apple Tree and Little Endeavors. However, a friend of mine who is a teacher in the Ankeny school district and DD's speech therapist highly recommended Treehouse Daycare (they didn't have 2 openings for us). Good Luck in your search - it's quite overwhelming! Let me know if I can help in anyway.

  • My boys go to Little Endeavors and I'd give them an enthusiastic endorsement. Most of the time their rooms have had fewer kids than state required ratios. Like in my 17 month old's room, there are just 6 kids for two teachers. Many teachers have been there since we started 3.5 years ago, but at times turnover has been high. I think you'll find that at most daycare centers. The other centers mentioned are good too - add La Petite and Clubhouse to the list. Just stay away from Tender Years. Once you tour a few places, it will be easier to choose. Let me know if you need more info. I researched the options like a crazy woman, and I know moms who send their kids to most of the good ones mentioned.
Happy mom to two sweet, silly boys: Cohen age 4, AJ age 2.
  • Thank you sooo much for the personal recommendations. I would start touring the ones that are listed here. Thank you!!
