Hi Ladies,
Im new to the board...used The Knot a few times. I've been married for two months, still pinching myself to see if it's real! We are both from the Dallas (me) & Fort Worth (husband) area. I look forward to getting to know you!

Re: New to The Nest
Welcome!
Congrats on getting married!
Hi!
We had settled on 25ppl, then his grandfather & my grandmother got sick....we both had planned for the time from our work & businesses so we eloped! Hard decision...but the best, seeing as how his grandfather was still in the hospital up until the end of last month.
We really just had to sit down & think about what was best for US, because working around everyone's schedules wasn't working. We are our grandparent's babies...so telling them was a bit nerve racking....BUT they were so excited for us! So it worked out for the best. And they suggested that we renew our vows on our anniversary & they'll promise to stay healthy haha!
What did you guys end up doing?
Erica
Erica,
That's great! I always wonder what happens to the people who post that they are being pressured into having a bigger wedding than they want -- I love that you did exactly what you both wanted to do (and that your families were OK with it!) Did you go to Vegas?
We'd gotten extreme pressure to invite 200+ long-lost relatives, but we stuck to our budget and only invited 150 (50 of my relatives, 50 of his, 50 of our friends). Only 70 RSVP'd yes (about 20 of my relatives, 20 of his, and then 30 friends). It was a great mix and a lot of fun.
If anyone's holding a grudge still over the guest list, they haven't said anything and I hope it stays that way.
Marie,
No Vegas...sigh! haha We woke up one morning & skipped right on down to city hall! We had taken a pre-marital class that waived the waiting period so we did it all in one day! Im glad that you guys got the wedding you wanted also!
Guest list grudge: haha I know a few people were upset, but the most important people to us understood.
