Email to prospective employer - need help please
A friend of mine told her boss about me, stating what a good future employee I might be. Her boss told her to have me email my resume. But I feel like I am at such a loss as to what to put in the body of the email. I have a resume so I will send that as an attachment, but I feel like everything I type as an introduction sounds stupid.
The thing is, her boss knows me by face, if not by name (I have volunteered at the school where they work). I know I shouldn't be super informal and should lean on the side of caution. But I also don't think this warrants a formal cover letter.
Any words of wisdom?

I would say something like:
Dear XXX,
(Friend's name here) recommended I forward my resume for your review. I've thoroughly enjoyed the volunteer work I've done with (Company Name) in the past and would welcome the opportunity to interview for an open position on your team.
Attached you'll find my resume. I look forward to speaking with you soon to speak further about opportunities available at (Company Name). I can be reached by (contact info).
Good luck!
