How do you get rid of them? We have little black ants in the kitchen. DH tried ant traps - didnt' work. I see they're coming in around the window frame, so I clean it with vinegar, I clean the counters with vinegar, i even took twine and soaked it in lemon juice and put it around the edges of the counter and window - nada.
Any suggestions? We have 2 babies and a dog, so we want to use something as natural as possible.

Re: Ants.....
Terro Liquid Bait. You place a few dots on paper and put them where you see ants. In a few hours they will be swarmed. They bring it back to the nest and kill the queen.
It's competely safe. Just boric acid and sweetener.
I think the liquid bait on paper works faster than their plastic, liquid filled traps.
Or cayenne pepper.
We had a small ant infestation in our kitchen a couple of months ago. We realized we had just received our recycling bin from the city and had it up against the back of the house. Once we moved it away from the house, the ants went away.
Try and locate the nest, then pour boiling water over it. First they'll all swarm out to save themselves, but the nest will have flooded with boiling water and a lot of them will be killed. Then put the liquid or powder ant poison in/on there. The living ants will trac it in to whatever is alive in there.
If you choose a eco-friendly powder or liquid it's fine for kids and pets. (I bought a big box of the powder and have seen them track it in 3 days later no more ants and it was a HUGE nest, At least 2000 of them fled out when I poured boiling water over there. The powder is eco-friendly and it states that it doesn't harm pets or humans, really just ants.)
If you don't get rid of the nest it's useless to even place traps or clean or whatever.
