Happy Monday

OK, so it's not quite the same as Happy Friday but it's such a gorgeous day out I'm trying to be positive :)

I know most of us talked about the weekend in the belated Happy Friday post, but give us an update on how yours went if you want.

We had a nice Father's Day dinner with my dad and uncle last night.  He got a gym membership and some workout clothes as his gift; we'll see if he actually makes good use of it!

I'd rather be rock climbing or playing volleyball

Re: Happy Monday

  • It IS gorgeous out! I took the dog out before I left for work, and neither one of us wanted to go back inside.

We finally made it out for dinner at Marliave on Saturday, and it was delicious. Yesterday, we went to my ILs in NH.  It took almost 2 hours to get there, thanks to traffic. (It's usually just under an hour, because they're practically right over the border.)  I wanted to kick someone by the time we got there.  Fortunately, the drive home was much easier.  And today, I'm getting a long-overdue massage after work, which is just in time, because this week is going to be a long one.

Hope everyone had a good weekend!

  • Glad you finally had your dinner, ead!  Sorry the drive was so awful, though.

Where are you getting your massage?  I found a great place right on Main Street in Watertown (creatively named Main Street Massage Stick out tongue) via Groupon a while back and have been loving it there ever since.

  • I go to Pyara in Harvard Square. I work around the corner, so it's pretty much my default for everything.  I get my haircut there, too, and I always try for the 8 am appointments: there's nothing better than a shampoo & a head massage to start your day!

    Can't disagree with that!

  • Happy Monday!

Satuday was my little sister's high school graduation. She's the youngest in the family (well... before DS) so she's always been the "baby." And now she's going to college! ::dies::

Sunday we took my father out to lunch, and then DH, DS and I spent the rest of the day just hanging out. It was great!

Meanwhile, I've been a knitting machine. I knit a blanket for DH for Father's Day and ran out of yarn about 10 rows away from finish Sad But in the last month I've also knit DS a soaker, a pair of shorties, and I'm in the middle of a pair of longies. And I taught myself to crochet, but I haven't actually produced anything but a bunch of squares.

Hello, I need pictures!  If there are no pictures, it didn't happen :)

I'm currently unknitting several rows from the same sweater I've been working on for months because I found a couple of holes.  Sigh.

Haha, ok, well I need to get yarn to finish the blanket and I need to finish the pants I'm working on now. Then I'll make a big AW knitting project post. It should be before the end of the week.

I hate hate hate unknitting. I'm not going to lie, the first part of shorties I knit, I purled a row that was supposed to be knit and I just kept going. It looks ridiculous, but they were my "practice" project anyway. Now I've bought really nice yarn, so the pair I'm currently working on I would definitely fix.

And now I've found all of these sellers of amaaazing, hand dyed yarn in all sorts of fabulous colorways. It is my new obsession.

The bolded part totally made me LOL!  I've already frogged this sweater a bazillion times but I will finish it.  My stubborn side is stronger than my lazy side on this one Wink

Did you know you can hand dye yarn with Kool Aid in a crock pot?  Add that to the list of many random things I've learned from Nesties.

In a crock pot?? The Kool Aid thing doesn't even surprise me- sad, huh?

I think once I have too many pairs of shorties and longies to bother knitting any more, I'm going to learn how to dye my own yarn.

My birthday is in 2 weeks though and I've asked DH for a good sewing machine so I can start learning to quilt, so I will probably knit less once I start that.

  • LadyE, please tell me with your sewing machine you are going to make dipes. I have some to die for fire truck pattern material leftover from a wetbag I had made for him that is just begging to be made into a diaper!

I will have some owl print leftover too once the second wetbag is done!

  • I had a pretty good (short) weekend. It was so hot, the heat index today is 112.

We did take a walk Saturday. It was cloudy, but still too hot and too long for the dog. I think we are done with the trails until the fall.

I made DH cocolate chip pancakes for breakfast yesterday! I gave him tickets to see David Gray on July 1 so we are doing that in a few weeks. So excited!

112? Holy crap! I could never live in the south. Seriously.

And I've seen David Gray a couple of times - he's always awesome. Have fun!

It's not awful to me since I grew up here but ILs arrive tomorrow and are going to Savannah for 3 days. They are going to die from heat stroke by the end of their first day.

  • It hit 103 or so when we were in AZ and I pretty much hid out at MIL's house all day.  The good news is that she lives in one of those huge retirement communities out there and it's sort of like an all-inclusive resort in some ways.  DH and I hit their bowling alley, pool hall, swimming pool, and gym on this last trip :)

I tried once! The diaper looked cute but did nothing, he peed through it in literally 2 minutes.

Mamamade and Star Baby Designs on Etsy both do AI2 customs. I've ordered from both and love both, but I think Mamamade isn't accepting new send-your-own-fabric customs at the moment.

  • Happy Monday!  My weekend went by way too quickly.  I spent the bulk of it with the in-laws.  I was super busy, and I didn't get any time to just relax.  Oh well...there is always next weekend!
