is this a joke?

weekend went SO fast. did not catch up on my rest.  did get some sun though, and ran my 4 mile race in my fastest time yet!  9:40 pace for a total of 38 minutes and 32 seconds :)  it felt really good.

i have a pottery class tomorrow, lots of running to do, cupcakes to bake.  and this weekend gerren and i are leaving after work to go away for the weekend on a white water rafting trip!  i am excited to get away, relax, AND go on an adventure :)  should be fun.

other than that, not much to report on!

Re: is this a joke?

  • I know.  We planned to take FIL to a late lunch on Saturday so I ran a bunch of errands all morning and got back just in time.  Then DH calls his dad and finds out he's still busy - can we make it 4?  He threw our entire day out of whack because we weren't expecting it.  I was annoyed cause when we got back I had to cook the meat I'd defrosted so it wouldn't go bad.

Then Sunday's wedding.  Overall it was lovely.  It was a mostly Indian ceremony with a quick exchange of Jewish vows.  And the reception hall was gorgeous, the food plentiful and good.  Here's the bad (tinged by my dislike for the bride): So there was only one other set of friends that made it to the 10am ceremony.  It was outdoors, but under a patio roof, so with a breeze, it was quite pleasant.  The ceremony was in Hindu, but the bride's aunt started providing commentary on and off throughout the ceremony.  We almost preferred it without.  We skipped out on the last few minutes to head to the cocktail area where the rest of our friends had arrived.  And found out the entire menu was vegetarian.  The groom stopped by for a few minutes.  After the endless 2 hours, we were ushered into the ballroom.  We know the bride doesn't particularly like us, (esp the one who has a tendency to get very drunk and very loud - but he's harmless and amusing), so we weren't too surprised to see our table in the farthest corner.  We were a little miffed that we were seated next to the short hallway to the men's bathroom.  The best man made his speech and there was a line about how the bride was the "embodiment of kindness and generosity" or something like that.  Several people laughed - which my table found hilarious (see note at botttom).  The bride and groom didn't make table visits (nor was there a receiving line), so I was a little annoyed by that.  The dinner was a buffet outside the room - they didn't call people by tables, it was just a free for all that resulted in LONG lines.  They hired a guy to come in and lead the party through an Indian dance - which took almost a full hour.  Oh, and the favors were these handmade chocolates.  But they weren't very well made - mine had a fingerprint on it!  All in all, it wasn't horrible, but it was a long day. The bride looked seriously happy all day, so I'm glad it went according to her wishes/plans.  I may not like her, but she deserves to be happy on her wedding day same as any other bride.

After my own wedding experiences, I definitely judging things all over the place.  Like I said, the bride has always seemed to dislike our group of friends (we're more friends of the groom).  So I think that made me even more judgey.

Sorry that was so long - cookies if you made it through!

  • Seriously.  The weekend is never long enough.

We spent the weekend up in PA.  Saturday we dropped a ton of stuff from the house at Goodwill and burned a ton of brush we pulled off FIL's lawn, and a bunch of burnable stuff from inside the house.  K was overly excited about his ginormous fire and it kept him busy most of the day.  I was lazy, so I sat on my bum and drank beer while he worked.  :-)   We went to our niece's ballet recital on Saturday night, which was cute.  Then we packed up yesterday and drove home.

All that makes it seem like I didn't even have a weekend.  I was in bed by 9:00 last night (which is suuuper early for me.)

  • Morning all. Sorry I have been MIA for about two weeks. Had a sub job to finish out the school year and didn't have time or access. :( I've been attempting to keep up through FB and reading posts at night. Only been partially successful. In my news, I am currently trying to retool my resume to a more general objective (rather than teaching based) and get a general, receptionist type of full time job so H amd I can actually feel comfortable trying to bring a baby into our lives. No success yet, but I've only been out of school since last Wednesday. This week I plan on making some progress. Also, SIL had her baby last Sunday the 12th at just under 30weeks. 2# 8 ounces. Doing well right now, so that's good. You may remember my biitchiness in regard to this situation. Planning on going strawberry picking this week too... I missed it last year. Gotta give Jetta a bath today, Piper got one last night due to rolling in something stinky. Caused a slight fight with H about him 'suggesting' I do it when I spent about 5hours mowing and wedwhacking ours and his grandparents lawn yesterday. He was up at lake michigan with his dad (he had to take FILs new boat up to him) most of the weekend. Both of us are still slightly annoyed ths morning. Sorry for the longness and lack of paragraphs, posting from my phome of course. I'll send cookies if you got through the whole thing too. :)

  • I had a very baseball weekend. The Rays played the Marlins. I went with Greg on Saturday. Where are season tickets are we always have the most annoying, different annoying people everytime we go. They were commenting about how bad Sox and Yankees fans are. Ugghhh.. There main point was they go to other people stadiums and cheer for their team. No idiots thats what real fans do! If you live in Boston it can be CHEAPER to go on vacation and see them then going to Fenway.

One of my friends is a HUGE Marlins fan so I went with her yesterday.

I slept awful last night I think I may just have to come to the conclusion that this is going to be me for the rest for my pregnancy/life. Crying I have always been such a good sleeper. This kid better be cute and worth it.. j/k.

Today is the first day of camp!! So I am busy

  • Awesome time on the race, Shauni.

Give me my cookie, emilee.  Glad you had a decent time even if it was a really long day.  (Be as judgey as you want!!)

Came home from running errands on Friday morning to find our side street blocked off by half a dozen police cars.  They were just opening up the street when we left for the camping trip around 6.  Long story short:  the woman who lived there hadn't shown up for work for a couple of days, coworkers called the cops, who showed up to check it out, guy (bf) refused to come out of the house, threatened to blow up the neighborhood.  Guy was arrested in the evening and they found the woman's body in the house.  Turns out he has a history of violence including a stretch in prison.  So sad.

On a happier note, I can finally breathe.  We've had my house on the market for months and no bites.  Just last week we finally got some applications to rent the place.  Sounds like the tenants will be moving in the beginning of July.  This was causing so much stress on me alone and between K and I.  I am so happy to finally have at least a temporary resolution to our 'two mortgages and a baby' problem.

Otherwise, weekend was pretty decent.  Great weather, camping & cooking out with family.  Best part about Monday is getting back into our routine.

  • thebears...you owe me cookies.

You just reminded me too, I have some major brush cutting I need to go do.  It's pretty dicey pulling out of our driveway.  You can't see any traffic in either direction cause of all the bush.  And did you say 2lbs? holy crappola

Emilee...glad you had kinda a fun time at the wedding.  I find those indian ceremonies fascinating.

Shauni... I'm jealous of your pottery class

  • Yes weekend went by way too fast! Saturday morning, woke up early and went to IL's house to help MIL with the garage sale; oh my there was hardly anyone who showed up; she sold more of her stuff Friday than Saturday. After we closed up around noon, James and I took one of our nephews to our house to play XBox and then he wanted McDonald's for lunch Surprise. Later, we just hung out and walked the dog at night. Yesterday, ran in the morning then vegged all day (aside from the usual cleaning and putting laundry away) and copied books on CD that MIL lent me. I went back to the IL's house for father's day bbq dinner and James came over after he got off of work. Nothing extraordinary happened this weekend but it's a shame it went by too fast!

  • Thanks for muddling through Dia. I spent SO long mowing and such that I didn't want to do anything else... I had to trim around our mailbox especially. It was like wading through a jungle to get to our mail. Yes, 2 lbs. SILs first was about a wek earlier and weighed 2lbs, 4 oz. *shakes head* some people don't learn the lesson the first time I guess. Sorry you're sleeping crappy X and Emilee, the wedding sounds pretty fun overall.

  • Susie - OMG that is SO scary!!  I cannot even imagine that happening anywhere near my neighborhood but I guess no one is safe these days.

H and I had a good weekend.  Friday night, I had a sudden, intense craving for Chipotle (random, considering I'd never been there before) so we went out for dinner.  It was yummy.  H and I ran around (went to Game Stop for him; the liquor store, and T.J. Maxx after I remembered I had a gift certificate there.  They had Bruins Stanley Cup Championship t-shirts so I picked up one of those.

Saturday we went on a huge grocery shopping trip because I made a pledge to make a new dinner recipe every single night this week.  I'm excited.  Tonight it's going to be a spicy wonton and crab stir fry.  We'll see how this goes!  Then, I thought we'd be cooking for my family on Sunday for Father's Day so we cleaned the house from top to bottom and H mowed the lawn and did some landscaping.  As it turns out, my dad decided to go down the Cape to get our boat in the water and didn't want to make the long drive up to us after driving all the way back from the Cape in one day.  I know it's alot of driving, but I was hoping to see him on Father's Day.  Oh well.  The house looks immaculate!

Sunday I did a little more cleaning and puttering around the house, completely re-organized my closet (finally got around to putting all my sweaters and winter wardrobe in storage) and read more of my book.  It was glorious =)

  • I am not well today. I still didn't sleep well last night, I overslept this morning, I left my train pass and work keys at home (MFD had to drive into the city with them, then back home, then he has to come back in later), and I am now mired in home security issues - activating an alarm, getting motion sensor lights, installing additional deadbolts. What the hell.

Friday I came home, got my dogs, went to my mom's to celebrate her bday and Rich's fajah's day. I got home at 10:30, shot the shizz with MFD and went to bed.

Saturday I slept in until 8:30. Thank you Benadryl. We changed the sheets, I boiled macaroni and shrimp for mac salad, then made hard boiled eggs. I went to Lowe's, the library and Redner's. At home I ate lunch, then assembled my mac salad, wiped down the powder room, made sun tea, did some laundry, and vacuumed the living, dining and couch.

I showered and headed to an engagement party around 5. Got home around 1:30 and had a nice little scare with a guy casing my house. I love standing on the street with a tank top and no bra at 2:20 a.m. giving a statement to the police.

Of course MFD was at the shore so I didn't sleep a wink all night.

Sunday I went to my dad's for breakfast and was home by noon. I slept for 4.5 hours, made baked ziti and browned some turkey for tacos. Watched a bunch of TV. MFD got home around 9:30. We both slept downstairs.

  • Shauni - kudos on your run time! Do tell re: pottery class.

Emilee - you would've hated my wedding! Eat when you want, no table visits. LOL

TBears - my dogs reek. They need baths pronto. That's on the agenda for this week or weekend.

Susie - Huzzah for renters! Two mortgages gives me hives.

City - I like the idea of a new recipe every week.

Whaaaaat?  That would have scared the caca out of me.  No wonder you can't sleep!  Do you guys live in a bad neighborhood, or just a random crazy?

    Fourth Anniversary

Morning!  I started my week off on the right foot (read: sarcasm) by showing up at 8:15, which is actually pretty early for me these days, since I always feel sick in the mornings.  Except someone had set me up for an 8-9 meeting, just to go over the setup I need for a video meeting tomorrow.  Urg.  And, of course, the boss who doesn't like me because the big boss lurves me actually showed up early today, so she was there when this person was looking for me at 8:00.

Anyway, had a nice weekend here.  Saturday I was pretty sick so didn't get much done.  Sunday I felt better, and we headed to my parents' house.  It was just us and my mom's friend/her husband, which was really nice.  My mom gave us a ton of clothes for MiniMush, which was really sweet.  I've got them organized by size in the closet now.

Shauni - you go, lady!  I'm jealous of your upcoming rafting trip.  This couple friend of ours are coming in July and we were supposed to go rafting, but I found out I can't go because I'm pg.  So they'll just do a half-day, and I'll meet them with a picnic lunch afterwards.

Emilee - glad the wedding was better than you expected!  And I'd be judgy, too.  A fingerprint on your chocolates?  Icky.  I hope the food was good!

Xtine - seriously, look into a pg pillow.  I've been sleeping SO much better since I got mine.  There's also a mini Snoogle, if you think the regular would be too big.

Stephm - holycrap that's scary!  I'm glad your H is back home, because I wouldn't sleep a wink if I was alone either.

EB - eep, poor little baby.  Can't believe your SIL didn't learn her lesson for the second baby.

Susie - yay, renters!  That'll take a load off, for sure.  And sheesh that's scary, with your neighbor.  So sad.

Eh. The long line was really for the Indian food.  DH had no interest in that, so we skipped ahead to the 3 stations serving "white people food".  Lol.  He still didn't eat much because it was vegetarian, but that's his problem.  And the table visit thing annoyed me because the ceremony was so early the event used up the whole usable portion of the day.  And also, I don't like the bride.  I might've judged a little bit at your wedding, but if I liked you, I wouldn't be as bothered by it.  I won't be able to judge her on thank you cards, because I sadly, still have not sent mine.

I did pull out our cards last night because I wanted to look thru some of them.  And I saw my notes on their gifts.  So now I feel really guilty and I think I'm going to bring a couple to work each day and write them on my lunch break.  I'm a horrible ungrateful judgey ***.  :-P

  • Ah hahahahah Emilee, you can totally judge me on my wedding if I can judge you on not sending thank you cards out yet. That is one of my mayjah rules. Get the cards out before you use the gifts or spend the dough.

Sunshine - no, we do not live in a bad neighborhood so I don't know WTF is going on, but I do know I will have an alarm system activated by tonight and additional locks and motion sensor lights to come.
