Help w/ a good response

Please excuse the formatting, I wrote this from my phone. My BFF has been a PIMA this past week. She's a teacher & done with school now, so I'm assuming it's because she's got extra time on her hands now. I've been super busy lately & expect to be until early July. She's been texting me multiple times a day. Sometimes I respond saying I'm busy & will get back to her later, other times I just ignore the text. Now she's texting asking if I'm mad at her. Can't a girl just be busy?? Gah! Can you think of a response besides 'sorry I've been really busy. I'll call you when I can' that will get the point across? Apparently that's not clear enough. I know I sound like a jerk, but I'm getting frustrated.

  • I can't think of anything nicer than what you already said.

  • I would probably say something like "no, duh, of course I'm not mad at you, just super busy, talk soon I swear!" but my friends know me well enough to know that that message was filled with nothing but love.

  • I think you said ti pretty well!  Just let her know that you're really busy right now and can't wait to catch up soon!

  • I ended up replying to her saying 'sorry, I've been real busy with x,y & z plus a million other things for this, that & the other. I haven't forgot about you. I'll talk to you soon.' She replied with a hundred questions about all those things. Gah, looks like I'll just have to carve out some time & call her.

  • How often do you normally text?  I would probably just say something like, "I'm trying to work and can't respond to all the texts.  Can we talk later?"

When she's teaching, she texts me maybe once or twice a week & usually after work. Just because she's free for the summer, doesn't mean the rest of us are. I like your response. To the point, but not mean. I'll try this next.
