Re: Larissa
Is it bad if I say it was awesome? We had a ton of live crawfish and the etouffee Eric made, and despite the fact that even people who'd never tried it before were loving it and scarfing it down, we still have a bunch of leftovers for us. A good thing, since Eric didn't get to eat much while manning the monster crawfish pot and the grill.
I myself have yet to master the fine art of dashing around from yard to deck to kitchen to living room and back again, hosting, socializing, and getting things for people while still sitting down to eat. Oh, and there was one near-mishap. I realized at the last minute that we forgot to pick up veggie burgers. We have two friends who normally attend our parties who eat 'em - one keeps kosher, one's vegetarian. But then I remembered neither was coming so we decided not to worry about it... until two entirely different friends who keep kosher showed up. We forgot they'd be coming because they normally can't - the wife is extremely allergic to anything furry. With an outdoor party, they could. Oops. So as soon as I saw them come into the backyard, I snuck out the front door to the supermarket a couple blocks away and bought 2 boxes. Ha.
We had bubbles, sidewalk chalk, and these big bouncy balls for the kids. I was getting requests for face painting, so my friend Emilie who's also a face painter pulled out her kit and got to work for me, which was awesome. I really couldn't do that *and* host properly. I did paint one face - a tiger on my friends' son, who thereafter ran around roaring at everyone. I love that.
It started at 3 and wound down around 10:30 or 11. Wish you guys had been able to come.
