Stand alone showers

My dear, dear husband didn't do a great job of keeping his stand alone shower clean.  I have been able to get the black out of the bottom (seriously, how do guys get tubs and showers so nasty) by leaving bleach soaked towels in the bottom of the shower.  My problems now are a bit more stubborn.

I've scrubbed the grout and gotten some of the mildew off but there are a few stubborn spots.  I've tried mildew cleansers, bleach and vinegar.  Nothing is working.  Anybody have any recommendations?

I also need to get the water spots/soap scum off the glass. Windex, vinegar and CLR don't work.

We are trying to prep the house to sell and this is the only part I'm hitting a roadblock in.

Hiiiiii!  Nice to see you over here.  That's a really good idea.  I think we have some too.  I'm going to try tonight!

  • For the glass try dawn soap. if it will wash greasy dishes it might cut through the soap scum.

  • I poured a bottle of shampoo (cheap) on the floor, let it sit (6 hours?) and scrubbed with a scrub brush.  Ours was dirty from the previous owners.  It took out almost all of the dirt.  I think someone here recommended it.

  • lysol 4 in 1 bathroom and tile spray cleaner (in the squirt bottle) is the best product i've found to remove the VERY stubborn hard water spots and soap scum(?) from our shower glass. i used to spend an hour scrubbing with other supposedly high quality products. the lysol just needed a few minutes of sitting, then minimal scrubbing with better results. it also did a good job removing the brown off the bottom, which i couldn't even see until i started scrubbing. not sure how it does with mildew however.

and i think baking soda is suppose to be tried and true, what our grandmothers used.
