The heat needs to go away

Does anyone else feel like running away from Texas for the summer? I've lived here my whole life, yet it never fails....once summer hits, it makes me want to uproot!

Any ideas for a mini vacation in a cooler climate?!

  • I lived in Kansas for 9 months and the summer there was so glorious I want to escape there every summer. I can't wait for July 4th weekend when I get to go and enjoy a little cooler climate.
  • Sounds great! I'll look into Kansas. I've been once, but it was many, many years ago.

  • I don't mind it as long as I can be in a pool or in the shade. But sitting directly in the sun, no, that's not enjoyable!

  • I don't have any suggestions on where to go but I agree, the heat needs to disappear.  It's not even summer yet.  It was 110 yesterday at my dads.  We have our thermostat set to the suggested temps and it comes on at 4:45 pm to start cooling to 78 degrees (I think it's kept at 82 during the day) and it's often not moved much by the time 10 pm rolls around.  It's ridiculous.
  • I love the heat.  I don't complain in the summer and instead save my complaints for February and March.

DITTO this. I can't stand the cold. At all. Blah. That's why I live in Texas where we have a sorry excuse for a winter and I love it that way. I love everything about summer.
