Sorry, apparently I'm a PW today.
We're getting new family room furniture delivered on Friday (yay!) and we need to get rid of the sofa that's currently in the family room.
We don't have another room in the house where we can use the old sofa. I don't really want to deal with selling it on craigslist and would be happy to donate it, but we don't have a vehicle big enough to take it somewhere like Goodwill. Anyone know of places that will pick up donations? It's still a decent sofa that's not really dated and it's definitely usable so I don't want to just trash it.
I asked the company that's delivering our new sofa, and they would take away the old sofa for a $25 fee, but it would just get trashed since they don't recycle or donate them.
Any ideas?
Or anyone need a free couch? ![]()
Re: where to donate sofa?
You could try Bridging or maybe Vets. Have you tried to call Goodwill & ask if they know someone who would come pick it up?

In order for them to pick it up, it has to be in "saleable" condition.
Are you anywhere by Minneapolis? Gosh, I am sure that I ?know? tons of people who would love a couch since I work with the Restoration Center at Central Lutheran Church (they give out free clothes and if someone comes in with a proof of a new lease they will give them household items)?but we don?t have space to store furniture so they would need to find a family who was ready for it right away. If you live in a nearby area/city (CLC is right next to the Convention Center), I would ask my group if they had any means to retrieve it or even if they do not maybe someone knows of a group who would be able to do it.
I will check on here tomorrow to see if you found a way to get rid of it already?.otherwise, I might have some options.
If you can?t find a good company that would pick it up, but need to get rid of it in a hurry, I have seen a lot of ?curb side? postings on Craigslist where people say that an item has been placed in their yard can be picked up by the first interested party.
Ok, it is great that you want to donate your couch and it looks like there are many groups who already have pick-up systems including the ones already listed above and some additional ones below (links to pick-up page). I think that one of these should work for you but if not, send me a PM and I will ask my group.

Wow, you did all the research I should have done before posting, but was too lazy. Thanks! All great options.
I had a different sofa to get rid of a couple of years ago and contacted Bridging, but they had stopped doing pick ups. Maybe they've started again? I'll check. Last time, I ended up giving my sofa to one of the college students who worked in my office and he had access to a truck to come over and get it.
