Monday Randoms

I have a meeting in about 25 min and I'm freaking out.  I feel like I'm in trouble, but I'm not.  It's about my maternity leave.  I don't know why I'm so nervous.  Eek!

I know.  I'm just not used to having meetings that focus on me.  It's feaky!  LOL.

  • I hope your meeting goes okay!

I had a great weekend up in Manistee with Hudson and my parents.  Jim was working, but we had fun nonetheless.  And my new baby nephew was born yesterday and I'm leaving right after work to go see him.  Yay!

  • I have seventy three million places to go today. But I'm looking forward to them, as long as I can get off my butt... Harvest Health, Costco, Target... :D
  • I found out last night that my bro and his wife are expecting!

  • Only 8 more 45 minute drives this week, then my commute drops to 20!  I'm looking forward to the gas tank relief.  My CC statement last month said I spent $463 on gas.  Just me.  H spent about $350.  Ick!  I'm expecting mine to be cut in half.  Big Smile

Definitely three of my favorite places!

I know how that is and I would be feeling the same way. Hope the talk went smoothly!

  • Did everyone have a nice Father's Day?

  • Hope the meeting went well Wop!

D&M - I hear ya on the gas.  We don't travel much for work/everyday but our long weekend trips add up at the end of the month.

Father's Day was lovely, except I was a bit hungover after Founders Fest on Saturday.  I didn't drink that much actually, and I think it was more of just sleepiness from not going to bed at my normal time and not being able to sleep in.  But Andy brewed w/his dad in the morning and then we celebrated with a BBQ with my family.  This included a moment when my brother came into the family room where we were all chit chatting and said, "So, those of you who have gas grills, can you help a newbie out?  What should I do if everything is on fire?"

  • I had a great weekend.  T woke daddy up around 9:00 on Father's Day and gave him his gift.  Then we got up and went over to the rental to finish a few things that got delayed because of our issues we were dealing with right before the new tenant was supposed to move in.

Then we headed downtown to kill some time at Taste of Muskegon.  We didn't eat anything, but it was fun to walk around and people watch.  And we ran into some friends.

After that we picked up H's dad, and headed to a restaurant where we met up with my dad and sister and brother, and had dinner.

Watched a movie last night, and then I worked out.  Busy day.  :)

    Oh no!  lol.

  • I am not much of a grill expert.  What does one do if everything is on fire?  I think I'd turn the grill off, and shut the cover.  Wait... actually, I know what I'd do.  I'd take the zucchini flambe off the grill with tongs and toss them into the hostas.  I forgot about that.

Yesterday I had a 5pm deadline for a school paper.  I finished at 3, and then I was  a human again.  We swam at the in-laws, went to the Twister Rooster, and then for a walk at Huff Park.  It was spendid.

Jim took the kids to Meijer to buy a gift for his dad.  They know he loves ice cream sundaes, so they picked out a few sauces and some things for the pool.  And Henry insisted on buying grandpa some milk.  When Jim asked why, he replied, "because it's FUNNY!"  Weirdo.

  • So it looks like the NO trip is falling through :(  Some scheduling conflicts came up.  Once again my husband's overthinking the whole thing pays off.

The silver lining, however, is that things look really bright for an Arizona trip over Xmas/New Year's.  Trading a trip  with a duration of 30ish hours for a trip of 6-9 days is worth it, right?  Also, the weather in Phoenix in December will be better than the weather in NO in September.  But I will miss my beignets!

    Kid's got a point.

  • Milk is downright hilarious in that context. ;-)

And as for what to do when everything is on fire - spray with a little water.  I learned this a few weeks back when I wanted to surprise Andy by cooking him a nice dinner - cedar planked grilled salmon.  I soaked the planks, but I still came out to them fully engulfed at one point.  The spray bottle we normally reserve for barking dogs and cats on the counter came in handy.

I have my one hour glucose test this Wednesday.  I'm not looking forward to it.

  • The glucose test isn't the most awesome thing I've ever experienced, but it's really not a big deal.  Promise.

Not bad at all. Just be sure to eat something with sustance soon after they draw blood, to help with the sugar crash.

Embarrassed  I liked it.  Normally I am not a sweets person at all.  But I liked the drink, it tasted like kool aide made with too much sugar.

    I realize I am a freak.

  • The Twisted Rooster's house salad is probably the best $3 side salad in the history of $3 side saled.

Whoa. That? Really? For $3? Awesome.

I have yet to visit ye olde Twisted Rooster. I keep hearing good things. Thing is, it's so tough to get out to the 'burbs (or 'burb fringe) to eat when we have to drive past all the urban restaurants we already love.  Tongue Tied

  • Oops, I should say that that is the full sized version.  BUT the side version is still way bigger than I expected, and the cinnamon bread croutons... yum.

  • GRSP - That salad looks awesome! Twisted Rooster is on our list of places to try. I think your picture moved it up on the list.
