My mom has been living with us since February while receiving treatment at MD Anderson. She will be receiving treatment for quite some time and is looking to relocate here but live on her own. She thinks she wants to live in a retirement apartment/townhome community (55+ish) but ideally doesn't want an assisted living area on property.
Does anyone know of a place in town (inside Beltway) that meets those criteria or of an apartment complex with a traditionally older resident base? I have found a few with online searches, but thought maybe someone would have more to add.
Thanks so much for your help!
Re: Retirement Communities?
My grandma lived in The Terrace at Memorial City for several years. She really liked it. She stopped driving while living there, but they had shuttles to the mall, grocery stores and doctor's offices available. They also had a very active social calendar to the theater district, museums, etc.
there is a really nice one right outside the loop at i-10, I think it's called The Forum. it has a green roof, and is a high-rise. my friend's grandma lives there, and she pretty much thinks it's the bee's knees.
she threw a shower for my friend when she was pregnant, we had it in one of the rooms there at the property. everyone was ridiculously friendly.

My grandparents lived there too, it was pretty nice.
