No real purpose, I just need to complain.
I have bad skin, always have. The past couple of years, I've been going to a dermatologist to hopefully keep it under control. I have yet to find anything that will work for longer than a couple of weeks. Before I had Ellie, I was on some preg-safe meds that I hated. One was a horrid sulfur smelling foam and one was a peroxide type stuff that had to be kept in the fridge and that bleached EVERY thing it touched & then an antibiotic. I don't remember the names right now.
I hated all of these, but I'm always desperate for a solution. In my 3rd trimester, my face was clear as can be & I had planned on "taking a leave" from the derm until after the birth anyhow, so I stopped going. I went back for the 1st time since yesterday and was put on a stronger (since I'm not preg) version off the peroxide stuff and a rosacea cream and another antibiotic.
The injections I get monthly work great, but obviously only for the current situation and I get a new cluster of annoying every single day.
All of these meds make my skin very sensitive to the sun, so I have to wear an spf daily. I cannot find one that does not make my skin feel really oily. I instinctively wear make-up to hide the break outs, but all of my oil free make-up is sliding off of my face w/in an hour.
So frustrated.

I had your same problem...for many, many years. I was the kid in high school, college and after with acne (and acne scars) and oil dripping skin. My mother dragged me to the dermatologist so many times we are still friends. I spent a small fortune looking for a miracle cure once I was an adult. I discovered this amazing combination of things a few years back and, if you knew me now, you would never guess how bad things used to be.
Here's what I do....
My makeup is Jane Iredale pressed powder and concealer. I also use their blush and bronzer. The products are more expensive than some on the market but last forever and are so amazing I can occasionally forget to wash my face at night (I have a baby and sometimes forget to take care of myself) and it doesn't cause any problems.
Once a year, I go to a place called Skin Ovations (Rochester Hills). This business is affiliated with a dermatologist office. I have a peel done (the strength varies). I won't lie.......some of the ones I have done are a tad bit uncomfortable (nothing worse than a bad sunburn though) but the results have been significant. I buy whatever products they suggest for aftercare and, after about 7 days, my skin looks great. I am going tomorrow actually for an appointment.
I used Dermalogica products for quite some time. Recently I switched to using a combination of the Jane Iredale face cleansing cloth/mit and some Chanel products. It doesn't seem to matter what I use now because my skin seems to have totally changed because of the peels.
If I would only stay out of the sun I really wouldn't need to do the peels often if at all....my problem is right now I keep getting brown areas so I go in to have that corrected.
I will for sure look into the products you mentioned, but a peel scares the hell out of me!!

how are your adreneal glands?
currently mine are" off "and giving me issues. many people with adrenal glands problems don't know it and just think its general tiredness/stress
as I have been reading more about the glands and what they do it seems that there is a connection between the glands and acne.
this is one post I found http://www.acne.org/messageboard/Adrenal-glands-Vitamin-t170228.html
I just started taking a supplement last week to see if it helps with my glands, improvements in my skin would be a bonus. This is what I'm taking http://www.standardprocess.com/display/StandardProcessCatalog.spi?ID=62
amazon sells it.
maybe look into this some more to see if any other adreneal fatigue issues relate to you? there are a bunch of articles about it. adrenals are kind of hard to test because they can still be off even if the test is in the normal range. I did some "alternative medicine" testing
I Think that skin problems usually tend to be an inside-out issue and think that working on the inside to fix the problem will help better in the long run. I've tried so much creams/pills/othercrap over the years and they only all work when I stay on them but many made my skin peely/too dry
so something to think about! good luck
Hmm.. I have no clue, didn't know there was even a correlation!
The Dr was telling me that the increase in my chin breakouts are probably a hormonal imbalance which I just attributed to some postpartum issues I've been having.
