I can't remember do I need a converter for Mexico?

or do I need to take batteries for my pump?

That's going to be the one big fat damper on the fun there.

  • Nope!  It's not awful, I promise!!!  I went for 5 days when DD was 5 months and I pumped 4x day.  It wasn't bad, maybe 5 minutes each time, both sides.  I ate/drank like crazy while I was there and came back 2lbs lighter. (overpumping since DD only nursed on one side at a time).

    Have fun!!!!!

I was hoping you'd answer. I'm petrified of my supply dropping while I'm there. When I've been at camps I've been pumping every 3 hours(like she nurses) because I wanted to make sure I was able to bring back enough to replace what she ate(to build stash for this trip). I did not wake to pump. I'm not as nervous about that this time.

     Did you notice an issue/problem?

Did you try to bring back any?  I'm taking those medela wipes and we will have a fridge in our room.  I'm not worried about security as I came back from camp on a plane with 100 oz.

  • I didn't bring any back from Mexico because well, I needed the break to drink and not stress about what I did or didn't consume.  I brought a small cooler back from Hawaii in May.  They gave me screening options and I chose the wipe method instead of letting them open by bags and test each bag.  Yes, it took longer and I had to be patted down, but I'd rather not have them contaminate my milk.

Call your hotel in Mexico and ask for a microwave in your room, they might have one they can give you.  I had one in Hawaii and used the Medela Microwave bag and it was awesome!  Just used bottled water to rinse and put them in the bag for I think it was 3 minutes in the microwave and they're sterile.

My supply dipped a bit while we were there, but I didn't stress too much since I knew she'd be back to it when we got home.  We're still nursing a few times a day even though she's now transitioning to cow's milk.  Edit: I should say it dipped in Hawaii, not Mexico...but my breasts also weren't used to the pump at that point as I only pumped a handful of times per week.

Set a loose schedule in your head and do your best to stick to it....

    wake and pump

    pump before or after lunch

    pump just before dinner

    pump before bed

You'll naturally be back in your room to freshen up or rest at those times so it doesn't impede too much with your relaxation. You can do it!  Good luck!!!

Thank you so much! I was really only planning on keeping what I pumped in the morning after waking up.  I plan on boozing too much the rest of the time ;-)  I have a wedding we are going to the week we get back so I need to make sure I have some for then as well!!

You might just consider adding a pumping session the week you get home to store up enough for her to have while you're out for the wedding...if you have a week you might have enough time to just pump at home.

I have enough right now for an extra day as is.  I started 2 weeks ago adding in one right before bed and this week I added one in during her morning nap.

I keep having nightmares of our freezer going bunk or her running out!

    Thanks =)
