So irritated...

I was already miffed with DH and his last message has me in a tizzy.

"We just landed in Roswell, we are halfway there.  Forgot to tell you last night, but I took your debit card."

WTF?  We have been married for 6 years with a joint account and he refuses to activate his debit card.  So he takes mine and won't be home until Sunday.  And I need to buy alcohol at Specs for my party on Saturday, guess I will be writing a check.  Which means I need to locate my checkbook.

Grrr....

  • ohh, how fun would it have been if he never told you, you thought you lost it, had it cancelled and then he was without money.  hehe.

  • Why the heck would he take yours?  Like you don't need any money for 6 days?

Remind me not to stand behind you in line.  I HATE it when people write checks!

I would find his and activate it....  and keep it!

  • How hard is it to activate a debit card?  You're the one taking care of his child.  You need the convenience of the debit card more than he does!  Grrrrrr is right!!

    THIS! THIS! THIS! THIS! THIS!

I'd be livid! But I can't live longer than 5 minutes without my debit card!

This!  DH was the same way with his debit card for our joint account.  He just left it on the bathroom counter for about 3 weeks.  So I took it, activated it, and I keep it in my desk.

They just landed in Telluride.  I told him I was irritated...he responded that I could just swing by Chase and take out cash at the teller.  I asked him where his unactivated card was and he said he had no clue.  I know they have sent several in the mail over the past few years...years!

Why didn't he just "swing by" Chase (since he isn't lugging a toddler with him) and take out cash?  OR leave you cash and take the card?  You have every right to be irritated...

  • so does he regularly do that to get cash?

Uusually, he will just take cash out of my wallet.  Or take the card for the night or something.  Never for 6 days.

  • My DH is infamous for doing things like this. The number of times I've gotten ready to pay for a cart full of groceries and found my debit card missing kindof makes me want to scream a little. I'd lose my mind if he'd left town with it!

His current problem would come in handy for you, though. He decided he wanted one of the debit cards with his picture on it. Somehow the process was botched and he's had to reattempt it several times - resulting in about 5 identical debit cards floating around the house - only one or two of which he's activated and he's never quite sure if the one he has is active or not. Indifferent

Hope you find one of your DH's to activate!

  • Oh I would be so mad!!

When you "swing by" Chase, can you go before the lobby closes and see if they will send another debit card for dh?  Then you can have that when he decides to take yours or just but that one in his wallet and tell him not to touch yours again?

  • I'd be ticked too. But then I'd just use a credit card. I very rarely use my debit card. Basically I just use it to get cash back at the grocery store, and even that is only once in a blue moon. I go weeks with no cash in my wallet.

Right, but I need to go to Specs this week and it is 5% cheaper to use cash/debit.  And I am buying a lot =)

  • I would be PISSED beyond belief.  Of course, DH has his credit card unauthorized in his wallet still.  I got tired of having to pass it back & forth for big things so I just authorized him on my account.  I am seeing how long it will take him to finally activate it.
