Any just married newlyweds (less than 1 month) out there?

Hi Nesties - I just got married two days ago!!!   I still can't get used to not having to do wedding planning anymore and being called Mrs. Simpson!   I've never been married before; he has.  We are in our 50's.  I know I have lots to do when we get back from the honeymoon (visit Soc. Sec., DMV, etc.)  Any advice would sure be appeciated! - brownsugarcinnamon

P.S. How do you insert a picture?

Re: Any just married newlyweds (less than 1 month) out there?

  • Hey!
we got married June 4 and I feel the same. I'm not used to being called Mrs. Salinas and signing my name different. I don't miss the planning though, engaged 18 months I was just happy that it was finally over.

I hope you had an amazing time on your honeymoon, we didn't want to come home back to reality. As for name change and all that fun stuff there are sites that give you check lists of things you may never think of changing which help. First thing to do though is Social Security and then License.  Those are the biggest!

Hope all goes well and congrats!!!

  • I am new to the Nest... I was on TK leading all up to the wedding.  I got married on June 25, and I'm enjoying the newlywed life :-)  Just wanted to answer and say that I'm newly married too!!  Congrats to you guys!
  • we have been married for 1 week! We're loving it, but all of our friends are single- so we really dont have any couples that are married to hang out with :(  we have been together for 6 years- and are finally glad to have tied the not.  The wedding was awesome, everyone was saying how it was the most beautiful, and fun wedding they have ever been to.  Even the wedding day of coordinator said it was the easiest wedding she has ever done.   Its going to take awhile to get used to the new last name though, but its so exciting!!

  • Well congrats to you and your husband! I was married June 11. It still weird hearing people call me with the new last name. I dont miss wedding planning at all, however, my best friend is getting married Oct 15, and I've been helping her out. As for changing your name process, go to SS office first with her marriage certificate, then DMV, and your bank and call your credit card(s) ect. . I had to pretty much carry my marriage certificate in my purse for like a month until I got everything changed. Congrats again!

  • Our wedding was late August - so I'm just a few weeks in. Enjoy your honeymoon - we had an amazing time! I used theknot.com before the wedding, more of the tools and articles than the boards, but I decided it's time to get more involved - especially since I moved to be near my husband's job and know few people in my city and I'm looking for a job here.

I don't know when I have to stop calling myself a newlywed but it still feels VERY new.  (But I've been practicing signing my new last name for a year!)

P.S. I am having trouble with this too. I tried using the little picture button, I copy and paste a URL for an image, and I click insert, but nothing happens. Any help, anyone?
