Just stepped on a snake. Barefoot.

OMG. You all, I'm home alone and had to tell someone. I walked out barefoot on my back porch and thought i just stepped on a stick/branch/whatever and looked down...there was a 3 foot long snake slithering away. Just about stopped my heart.

I looked it up and it's a garter snake. It's currently hiding under my A/C unit right by my porch.

Tell me it's not waiting to get revenge on me for stepping on it. Feel free to also laugh at my extreme reaction. I know I'm a wuss.

  • Luckily it was just a garter snake! Yikes!

I just killed two spiders outside my front door that were much larger versions of the ones we have been finding in our house 0.o

  • Poor snake. It is so hot outside, you should have invited it in for some lemonade.

    Just kidding.

I would have peed my pants.

  • HO.LEE.CRAP!  I would have freaked out.  I think I would have definately peed on myself.  I'm always afraid if I see a snake I'll pass out and the snake will bite me as I'm lying on the ground.
  • Ick! IckIckIck!
  • Eeeek! Like pp's, I would've peed my pants!

I've been seeing snakes too much lately! Saw two on our Arkansas trip a couple weekends ago, saw one running last week, then I got a happy meal from Micky D's and the toy was this little snake thingy! I think it must be a sign...

Ha ha ha ha! I'm picturing this...."Lemonade?"

  • My skin is crawling just reading your story.  Yuck!!!
  • I don't mind snakes, but stepping on one barefoot would freak me out.

What is it with creepy crawly things today? A coworker killed a big wolf spider in my office this morning. I was off visiting another coworker, so I only saw it after it was squished but he said it was the biggest one he's seen. I'm glad I didn't have to return to play hide and seek with it.

A friend of mine in Stilly said she's been getting wolf spiders in her house. Is it because it's so hot they are coming indoors? Why don't the cute, cuddly creatures want to come inside, and not the nasty, creepy, scare the isht out of you creatures come in?

Actually, I think it was sunning on my porch! I guess I should have brought the lemonade out to him.

Yeah, I've been killing a ton of spiders indoors. We've sprayed inside and out preventatively, but I think it's just the season.

  • Ewwwwww.  I would have died.  I had a snake that was about 7-8 inches long come in our house and play back by B's bedroom.  I can't imagine if it was three feet long and if I'd stepped on it with my bare foot!!

My dad and my grandpa were down at the lake that we always go to and were driving the boat to the dock.  A 6-7 foot snake slithered across the road in front of them.  They said it was HUGE.  Huge shudder!

  • I would have flipped the fvck out!  I freaking hate snakes--anything that doesn't have legs just creeps me out.

Last summer I stepped out our front door to go get the mail and was greeted by TWO snakes on the porch.  I called DH in a panic and told him we had 2 snakes on the porch...he was like "ok?  I'm at work and I'll be home later"...I guess I expected him to rush home and save me LOL.
I kept watch on them the whole afternoon until they slithered around the brick half-wall on our porch----I then refused to leave or enter the house for about a week without DH first doing a snake check.
  • Yuck!  I don't care what kind of snake it is.  If I were to step on it, I would freak the F out!
