The Runaway Chicken - WWYD?

Okay, this is probably going to sound ridiculous, but I am just curious to see what you would do? I went grocery shopping yesterday at the Publix I always shop at and bought a bunch of stuff. Apparently, they never put the chicken breasts I bought into the cart. I definitely bought them, they are on the receipt, but I can't find them anywhere. I am pretty sure they didn't just run away. I don't know if they put them in the next person's cart, of if they realized it and just put it back on the shelf when they realized what happened? It was over $7 worth of chicken. Would you go back to Publix and ask about it? It's not like I can prove I didn't get it. Or just suck it up and go buy more chicken?

  • Publix is generally awesome about this kind of stuff, especially if you are a regular. I would take your reciept to the customer service counter today and explain the situation. I bet they give you the chicken AND a refund.

  • I've done this before with $30.00 worth of rib roast. They didn't give me the bag and I didn't realize it until I got home. I went back up there and they put it aside for me. They are really good about it. I would go get your chicken.

  • If you have to go back there anyways it doesn't hurt to ask. Honestly if they didn't give you a refund I wouldn't shop there anymore. Keeping you as a customer should be worth more than $7 to them.

  • definitely go back and talk to them...i've always had good luck with their customer service.
  • I would definitely go back.  Publix usually bends over backwards to make their customers happy. . . .and this is coming from the girl who managed to score a free case of cheese (12 bags) b/c I complained.

  • I would definitely go back. I've never been given any flack at any store for returning for something that didn't make it home with me. Even Wal-Mart's CS was stellar when I went back for deodorant (Secret Clinical - so not cheap!).

    Agreed. We were in FL on vacation one time and I needed shampoo. I grabbed it off the "50%off!" clearance rack because I just needed something for the week. It rang up full price and I was back in the car once I figured it out. Took the bottle and the receipt in and got the full price back. Not the 1/2 off price.

    Publix CS rocks.
