second interview and traffic
I was called yesterday for a second interview. When I originally applied for the job I mapquested the time/distance from my house and it said 34 minutes, so I didn't think that was too bad. Well yesterday I decided to just drive to the location to actually see how long it would take and it was 45 minutes with no traffic. (I will be coming from Woodstock and have to take 400 to 285 and will be on 285 for 10 miles). Does anyone travel these roads to and from work (work time is 9-530) and if you do can you give me an idea of what to expect with traffic during this time. I (we had rush hour traffic in FL but from what I've heard it's worse here) I need to work and I feel like beggers can't be choosers, but am I looking at almost and hour and a half of driving?

I don't even have the job yet, but when I had my phone interview yesterday she asked me where I lived and I told her that based off of what I saw online it wasn't too far away. She told me the hours would be 9-530 three days a week and 11-8 two days and asked if that would be okay. I agreed.

I am not trying to pry into the details of your situation but exactly how badly do you need the job? On those 9-5 days 285 is going to royally suck. 11-8 should be good.
I commute from intown to Alpharetta and the only reason it is bearable is because I carpool and can get in HOV on the connector. We have people who commute here to Alpharetta from Woodstock and I don't believe their commute is too terrible.
yep. bad. This is why we always tell people to live near where they work.
But yes, right now, I'd take the job and see if I could work 8-4 or whatever so I could get around the awful commute.
I'll suggest getting satellite radio and or Panora on a smartphone - or take transit wherever/however you can. Cherokee and Cobb Co offer express service to downtown, then you could take another bus out to Tucker. My DH's BFF does this. He's a contractor for a large shipping company, and he drives from 575/Woodstock to the park&ride at Town Center then follows the above. Its not ideal, but it gives him time to sleep, read, relax... its an option!

I don't need to work to make ends meet, but I need to for my own peace of mind (it's hard for me being home all day with nothing to do) I've been job hunting for a while now with all of my surrounding areas (kennesaw, roswell, alpharetta and marrieta) and haven't had much luck. I even contacted some local companies just to volunteer my services for free just to get out of the house and I still had no luck! Guess I just need to see if I'm offered a position and they weigh out my options.
