Help With Last Minute Anniversary Dinner

Our anniversary was yesterday and we both sort of dropped the ball.  We'd like to try some place we've never tried before in DC.  I'm pregnant, so sushi is out and wine selection isn't important.

Looking at Open Table, we can get reservations this Friday at the following restaurants:

  • Plume at the Jefferson Hotel
  • Tosca Ristorante
  • Corduroy
  • Eola
  • Restaurant Nora
  • Bourbon Steak
  • RIS

What do you suggest?  Any other shouldn't miss restaurants likely to have availability?  (There are more on Open Table, but I didn't want to copy the whole list.)

Re: Help With Last Minute Anniversary Dinner

  • Cordoruy is wonderful.
  • I would do Nora.  (We did our 2nd anniversary there.)  If you're into seasonal/local, they do it right.

Not that the others aren't great.  Tosca is lovely, and they have a $35-$35 pre-theater menu (basically the restaurant week deal year round.)

Isn't RIS a bit more casual than the others?  I may be making that up.  (Though when we were at Nora, there was a family with young kids that clearly eats there as their neighborhood diner.)

  • DH and I just were at RIS on Monday night for a special event. We tried some of their new appetizers...sooo good! It was a cute place and I'm looking forward to going back for a full meal. I wouldn't say it's casual...just not super fancy.

  • we like hook a lot (and have gone on a saturday evening without reservations). blue duck tavern is at the top of my must-list.

bourbon steak is essentially a chain (mostly in NY) so i'd probably take that off the list.
