Massage question

My mom gave me a gift certificate for a one hour massage for graduation.  I'm finally redeeming it for my first ever massage tonight :-)

How much do I tip?  I'm assuming the cost of a one hour massage at this place is around $60 because I think my mom pays $90 for 1.5hrs.

Re: Massage question

  • I consider massages to be the same as haircuts - and I tip 18% on the price of the service.

    Just curious why 18%?  It's so specific and how the heck do you figure it out on the spot?  My math is totally not that good.

    I tip the same as hair cuts, too.

  • On a $60 massage I'd tip $12.

    I move the decimal point over one place and multiply that by 2.  60.00 --> 6.00 x 2 = $12.00.

  • I probably over tip, but I do 20% on just about everything I tip for (servers at a restaurant, haircut, massage, etc) . Unless the service I received is horrid, then I only give 5-10%.

    Thanks ladies!!!  I like your method Kiz and think I will do $12 :-)
