I am currently in the legal field. I work PT in retail and I am going to school PT for nursing (not yet in a program). I do not include either of these on my resume because they don't apply to the jobs that I apply to in the legal field. I do not use anyone at these jobs/school for references. My resume is also 1.5 pages long. I have tried and cannot make it shorter and don't care to because it includes my jobs, volunteer work, education, notary information, etc. I have also been in my field for 8 years.
Sometimes this comes up during an interview. One asked for interests or what I do in my free time. Another was telling me she was also doing mediation and I used this to express my interest in other human service field areas.
Should I include this on my resume? Should I include the schooling on my resume? I will for jobs that it applies to (ie: secretary job in the medical field)
Any thoughts or suggestions?
TIA!!
Re: Resume Question
I think you should include all schooling on your resume, relevant to the current job or not. This will show the potential employer that you have drive and are looking for a position that will satisfy your schooling and offer you an opportunity for advancement.
