It's been a rough day at work. One of our former students (was here last year) was pulled from the lake without a pulse yesterday. Paramedics managed to get the heart started again, but the student was under water for 10-15 minutes. Things do not look hopeful. The student was bright and popular, and chose to go in the water even though they didn't know how to swim. A wave hit, they were pulled out, and the student didn't know how to get back up again. The water was so murky that the friends couldn't find where the student had disappeared to.
We've had a lot of tears here today.
It kills me when kids go in the water because they think they're safe (the student only went waist deep), but you just cannot turn your back on the water. Waves, currents, cramps... ugh. Learning to swim is such an important thing.
On top of that, a student assaulted a teacher here yesterday. The teacher is fine, but we're all a little rattled.
Re: I don't know what I'm even asking for here...
I am so sorry to hear about your former student. I agree teaching kids water safety and how to swim is so important. I will be thinking about the childs family and friends. How old was the child?
sending you T&P they are always great!
Oh no
I heard about the student in the news... how terribly sad.
Sorry you're dealing with so much. Hugs!
