Okay... due to info I left out - I'm rewriting this post.
I've been in training to start my own business for about a year and a half. We've had a few delays and I was almost ready to take the exam and had some set-backs... so I'm almost ready to launch again.
Our tentative plan (for about a year or so) has been to launch the business asap and have a little time to build a client base before we TTC this fall. We've been in a pretty good place financially and we recently booked a trip as a last "us" thing before we have kids. We've been planning on going off the BCP around the same time.
I recently found a new dentist (the old one told me I had 7 cavities after a lifetime of perfect teeth - and then told me I had two more forming when we finished all those fillings) Well, the new dentist (my second opinion) said I have 11 cavities now. Plus, they want to fill in some gaps caused by gum recession (caused by clinching at night) -- so the grand total is: $3,304.00... except that it might be more than that because our insurance coverage caps out at $1,200. Which would leave us holding a $5,211 bill. What gets me about all this is that I am pretty good about oral hygiene and I have never had any problems. Now I'm on multiple home remedies, hoping to solve whatever's wrong with my teeth all the sudden. We can't afford this to keep up like it is.
All the dental work is broken up into 7 appts... and it's going to take two weeks to get a pre-approval back from our insurance - so that means we won't be done for at least 9 weeks... up until our trip, if not past.
DH's job is in limbo-land and it's driving him crazy... there's lots of red tape drama and we're both just really discouraged.
I really don't want us to have to wait to TTC, but with the dental work (I've been warned to get it done before pregnancy but I'm researching the validity of that), the cost of the dental work and the stress with DH's job... I dunno. Feeling the financial strain and knowing we have a non-refundable trip booked is adding to the stress.
Re: venting
Holy crap, that's a lot to take! The dental stuff really sounds suspect, are they showing you xrays and stuff? That seems awful weird to suddenly have that much going on. If it is true, are they even looking for something health-related that could be causing it? I know it may seem like one more thing, but maybe you should speak to your PCM about it, since the teeth can be connected to many other health issues.
At the very least, better to get all this taken care of before pregnancy. Your dental health can get really wonky when you're pregnant, and at least you have a head start!
"My 101 List - Updating asap, I swear!
I was just thinking this.
Wow, I am really sorry you're going through all this right now. I hope that there isn't something else going on that's causing the sudden onset of your dental problems.
Zombie hugs!

How is it that my BABY is going to be 3?
