I found some freakishly huge caterpillars on my tomato plants a few days ago, and while I've seen them before, I want to know their name. They are the light green fat ones, with a horn at the end of their tail. They ate the crap out of some seedlings DS and I planted! There were 3 of them in the planter, and we lost about 1/3 of our dozen seedlings, so I'm sure it could've been much worse! I don't think they'd been there long, or they just ate their fill and fell asleep on the plants (they were dead still when I found them).
Anyway, the birds apparently loved me because I threw them (plant and all) on the driveway, and within minutes, they came swooping down for them. Serves you right eating my plants!
Re: What are these?
My thoughts also. They are evil little things and can do some serious damage to your tomatoes very quickly (unfortunately I speak from experience here).
