I though I remember you saying you had pre-e when you were pregnant, or am I just going crazy? If you did, what did you feel like? I think I'm at a higher risk for it and my dr. is keeping an eye on a few things but I'm curious to know what it's like from someone who experienced it.
TIA!

Re: *Thor*
Thor did and i did as well, so i'm butting in
so, i was at high risk for this because i have lupus and the lupus affects my kidneys so i always have the protein in my urine that is an indicator for pre-e...so my baseline was different then want a normal persons would be. so, i was heavily monitored for it. i had a few false alarms but at 34 weeks i ended up being admitted to ante-partum (pre-delivery) l&d at the hospital for monitoring. i felt like my blood pressure was high, and it was...very high. like 200/100. maybe even worse..i can't remember. and i started swelling quickly...i wasn't swollen my whole pregnancy, so i knew that was wierd (and this happens when i get sick with my lupus also). i was in the hospital about 3 days before thye decided to induce (they had some issues with my 24 hour protein results...bc they dropped it on the floor..yep). basically, i started having a chest pain. i didn't really get the headaches or blurred vision though. (although this year when i dealt with BP issues, i did have headaches a lot).
so...i guess mostly for me it was the BP being high. it made me feel like my heart was racing, i felt off and like something was wrong. i dont know how else to explain it. if you feel off in ANY way...call the doctor.
they will check you for protein in your urine and if that is present and you have high bp,you basically pretty much get the pre-e diagnosis. i had to be on magnesium while being induced and it's not fun. horrible actually...but i was induced for 36 hours before having a c-section. then...bc bennett was affected by the magnesium and also a boy (they actually call them wimpy white boys in the NICU...higher instance of having issues), he landed in the NICU. i had to wait 24 hours to see him bc thye wanted me back on magnesium after the cs (the magnesium keeps you from having a stroke bc of the high bp).
sorry...that was probably scary for you. ask any other questions you want
My BP was high the whole pregnancy but I didn't feel bad until the end. I had to repeat the 24 hour urine thing a few times during the pregnancy.
When it got bad, I threw up violently for a ocuple days for no reason. A week later, I was in the hospital. I had lots of vision speckles and floaties. I had headaches and nausea. Once in the hospital, they repeated bloodwork and 24 hour urine. I was released to go home on strict bedrest. I got worse and was readmitted a couple days later. They tried to control everything but I ended up getting steriod shots to help develop her lungs.
Once my BP was getting really bad, they put me on a magnesium drip. NOT fun. I was moved to labor and delivery. almost 48 hours of failed induction led to my csection. I had to remain on the mag drip until my BP stabilized and I was able to go see her.
If you feel funny in any way: headaches, nausea, eye floaties or speckles, blurry vision, vomiting, extreme fatigue, just call the doc. Better safe than sorry. I will hope you don't have to go through what we did.. it was not fun at all. She was totally worth it of course though..
i would make sure you take your BP on a regular basis at home so when you go to the doc and it's high you can say "yeah, it gets a tad high here but at home it's consistently _". that way, they don't freak out for no reason. if they think it's too high, the next step is a 24 hour urine collection to determine if you're passing protein..it's a pain but not too bad. then, since you're 36 weeks, if you have the signs at all, they'll most likely induce you.
i hope you have a healthy rest of your pregnancy though! and, if you feel wierd at all, call L&D!
Those are definitely your body telling you that your BP is a little high like you had at your appt. Try to rest, get those feet up, and drinks lots of water. If you feel funny in any way, just call the doc. They are there for you. That is their job. Do not hesitate at all.
