I am usually a lurker but I am hoping I might find some fellow animal lovers out there to help!
We have 9 (YES, 9!!) Lab Mix pups that need to find LOVING homes! This wasn't intentional (we found out Mommy was pregnant when she was about to be spayed) and the Daddy has since been "fixed". Both are rescues that we absolutely love. The Mommy is a mini black lab and the Daddy is a lab mix (??). He is black with tan markings.
So we have 3 golden puppies (all male) and 6 black puppies (3 male, 3 female). The parents are about 45 pounds so we think the puppies will grow up to be about the same size. I have been asking around and letting friends and co-workers know to spread the word. Many have suggested posting an ad on Craigslist, but I am just afraid of who might respond. I just don't want them to go to a bad home...
They will be old enough to go to their new families mid-July. If you are looking for a puppy or know someone who is, please let me know! Feel free to PM me with questions or for my contact info. We will be "screening" any interested families, just to be sure they have the time and attention for a puppy and the little guy (or girl!) goes to a stable home.

Re: Our Lab Mix Puppies Need Loving Homes!
OMG. Sooo cute!
I can't have, want, or need another dog (my 2 are bad enough) but they sure are adorable!

I was trying to avoid opening this. I don't have the room for one, but I have puppy fever like WHOA.
Darn you.
This exactly. And I have a dog-hating cat. But I wish I could. I suspect you won't have much problem, though. They're adorable!
My silly Lily is almost 4.
Sorry for causing puppy fever! They really are too cute and each have their own adorable personalities that I am already getting too attached to. I wish I could keep them all!
If you know anyone that might want one, let me know! Does anyone have suggestions for finding homes? The Pets section in Craigslist scares me, but should I try and just screen each interested family as best as possible? It is just hard to find people who are willing to take in a puppy and know for sure they will really take care of it...
Thanks girls! Please let me know if you have any suggestions! If I have any luck I will let you all know :-)
We had thought about doing a "rehoming fee"- which I hate to even say because animals are not a commodity. But we think this might deter impulsive/irresponsible/etc people from reaching out to us. They will have their first round of shots done, so if we can recover some of that...great! If not... I think for the right family I would give them a puppy for "free"... I just want to make sure the family is stable and can afford to take care of a puppy.
Does that make sense? If I did do CL or post flyers in vets offices and such then I would probably say there was a fee. After meeting families who find us that way I think we would at least reduce the fee, if not eliminate it completely. They aren't pure breed and we aren't looking to make money off of them... not sure if I am making sense.
We aren't on Facebook :-/ everyone thinks that is so weird... but that is a good idea! I wonder if I join now if I could spread the word to enough people in the next few weeks....

I would never give away an animal for free on CL. You should at least list it with a price, even if it's $20, just to prevent an abuser from taking it.
ETA I know you said you would say there was a fee, I'm just sayin I agree with that decision:)
Oh man. It's a good thing I live out of state or I'd be bringing home my new lab mix puppy STAT.
Sorry I can't help - what cuties!

Ehh... still not sure. I feel weird asking for one, but like I said... it is to deter certain demographics. $100? That is what my vet suggested as she said the "creeps" wouldn't spend $100, they would buy one of the less expensive ones or the older dogs that are "Free to a good home". What I wonder is how often are these homes actually "good" ones and what are the owners doing to ensure this?
Open to suggestions... is that too much? Like I said... when we find families we like I could see taking less than that.
I don't know if that is too much or not, but I paid $200.00 for my purebreed, so I probably wouldn't pay $100.00 for mix. I adopted my lab mix from the humane society for $40.00 and she was spayed, immunized, and micro chipped. She wasn't a brand new puppy (about 8 months), but all dogs were the same price. Maybe check the newspaper for different prices listed for dogs who are mixes.

Good idea! They will get their shots (first round and second if we still have them when they are due) and we might get them micro chipped too. We have a purebreed (Pembroke Welsh Corgi) and she was very pricey... not to mention we got her from a "breeder" (in Massachusetts) that was a puppy mill. She had pneumonia when we got her and she almost died in the hospital two days later because of it.
So the moral of the story is our purebreed was definitely expensive.... and that was before we even got her home! I will look around to see what other lab mix pups are going for. I called a few local vets who said I can post flyers in their offices... hopefully that attracts the right kind of attention!
