Inspired by Mandah... Tattoos anyone?
- Who's got 'em?
- Photos?
- Story behind them?
- Want more? Or first one?
Re: Inspired by Mandah... Tattoos anyone?
Who's got 'em? I do! Just one
Photos? Nope
Story behind them? Wellll I was on the dance team in college and they wouldn't let us have any tats or piercings. Then I hated them (for other reasons) so I quit, and within a day I got a tattoo of a dancer on my back right above my butt. It sounds ironic, but I was still a dance major at the time and quitting the dance team (which was more like cheerleading) actually allowed me to focus on *real* dancing more.
Want more? Or first one? Nooooo! Omg I'm such a baby about pain and needles I don't know how I went through with the the first time.
::raises hand::
I have one on my lower back....sorry for the crappiest picture ever!
Story behind it: It was my way of saying I was growing up and spreading my wings so to speak. I often forget I have it!
Want more: I'd get more if I felt strongly about the reason behind it.

This is my first, second, and third tattoo sittings! LOL - first was just the sun, then came the two stars and the gemini symbol in the middle of the sun (which btw was royally f'ed up, star outlines were crazy bold and the gemini symbol is upside down - super pissed after), then i added the moon and soft clouds and lil stars... i like it though and it was a design i had created and loved for a long time.
(sorry for crappy cell phone pic taking a photo of your lower back is not easy! lol and it is centered but my shorts are not!)
This is my second one... got it done in Hawaii on the last day of my 7 1/2 week stint as a summer guest... the turtle has the Hurricane Symbol in the middle (my degree is in meteorology) and it's hard not to fall in love with the Honu or sea turtle while you're out there! (ps this is also a self portrait... that i actually have for sale on istockphoto)
will i get anymore? maybe. i love the one of my foot but don't know how i feel about two feet tatttoos... and i'd love to get DH's sign somewhere (aquarius) but not sure where... some day!
can't wait to see what you ladies have!

Dang - I don't have any!! But looking at some of these - who knows? I'd have to say the biggest reason I never considered getting them is the needle involvement...but for the right message, I could bear that :-)
Great tats, girls!!!

Who's got 'em? I do! I have one - its on the inside of my right ankle.
Photos? No, but here's what it looks like:
Story behind them? My tattoo is the chinese symbol for "dad" and my dad's initials are on the right side of the symbol. I got the tattoo in honor of my dad who died when I was 13. It's so special to me because it reminds me that he's permanently with me, both in my heart and tattooed on my body. For me, it's a great reminder of our relationship and his influence on my life.
Want more? Or first one? I do want one more - I want a small butterfly on my shoulder in honor of my grandma who died. She always used to take my sister and I to catch butterflies, so it's only fitting.
I dooooo. I got it on my wrist in Vegas in May.
The claddagh represents "love, friendship and loyalty reign forever" and the triangle knot (triquetra) has a lot of meanings, but I like that it represents family "Father, Mother, Child". I figure it covers all my bases in one tattoo!
I saw it last year in Vegas and really wanted one. Wimped out. I went back last month and got it! It was Vince Neil's (from Motley Crue) tattoo shop, and a really awesome guy names Johnny Law did the tattoo. DH was with me and I didn't cry or anything but it huuuuurt. I am glad I did it though.
I might get another one someday...but nothing planned at the momet.
I have 4 small ones. 2 tramp stamps on my back - Japanese characters for love & friendship. A lily of the valley with my sorority letters on the inside of my right ankle and a small Taurus symbol on the outside of same ankle.
No story - just wanted 'em. Originally I did want "family" on my back but we couldn't find the symbol for it anywhere so I got love instead - then got friendship a year later.
Danie you are shi!!ing me! I also have a tramp stamp on the upper fleshy part of my right butt cheek that I drew all the time while was in college and finally had it tattooed. Are you ready? It's a heart with flames around it and a teardrop falling from the bottom of the heart.
It just gets more and more weird how alike we are...

I have eight tattoos, currently and I will be getting more. I'm not going to give away what I'm doing because one of my close friends "borrowed" my idea on my upper back and so I stopped working on it and am having something different done instead, so I want to keep things a surprise until it's fully done.
As for my current tattoos, I have (in order from oldest to newest) an orange gecko on my lower back (didn't mean anything other than the fact that I was 18 and wanted to get inked), a seahorse (I'll have to describe the meaning of this in a separate post - Rachel you will love it) on the inside of my left forearm, two fireworks - one one each shoulder blade (which are going to be covered to make room for new tattoo - but everyone always referred to me as a firework/firecracker because of my spirit), the friend symbol from Friend Bear the CareBear because my maiden name is Friend on the top of my right forearm, a shamrock on the back of my neck because (duh) I'm Irish and finally a HUGE tree my lower back that spells "love" in it's branches very ornately and now has the gecko crawling up the trunk.
